This thread is pin the tail on the donkey sort of stuff.

12 months ago the argument around list management with Battle was we could afford our 3rd KPD and running interceptor to leave so we could fix the midfield issue once and for all.

We drafted a running half back and KPD, now the argument is it’s no longer a midfield issue, it’s a intercepting defender issue, so we should give up capital for Aleek and Bergman. This is despite all key data telling us otherwise.

You couldn’t make this stuff up. What’s next, we offload Nas for Butters and Bergman, and our issues become a half back flank issue in 2 years when Sincs is 32? Mind boggling stuff.
💯 don’t know how many times I read that we were fine losing Battle because we were guaranteed an elite mid

We didn’t get the mid and we didn’t have someone to replace Battle

You won’t say that when you watch the Viking dominate for the next 15 years.

I’d also say Battle got it wrong on several fronts, as soon as he signed his contract his Mrs gave him the arse.

Now lives by himself in a place in Aspendale.
Oh here he is old mate Brainless speaking stop making shit up

Go and have another drink

We wanted to keep Battle, offered him better $ than Hawks, he chose to leave. Let’s all move on. We didn’t have a choice in the matter. Obviously we weren’t prepared to pay overs.

Now we need to hope that either (or all) of Tauru or Barrat or Leek (if we get him), come good.

Given their ages, we are going to need a lot of patience and hope.

Tom Highmore going great in the VFL, just saying.

How did Essendon use a pick 4 for an outside mid that can't kick🤣

He'd probably be a lot better playing inside mid. I didn't see his Adelaide game, but his stats were good.

I know there was a perceived go home factor with Pou, but Bombers taking Tsatis and Cats taking local boy Clarke meant we got him.

Get Tstasas, then stack him up with our other VFL quality mids, Carroll, Dow, and Jones.
Our reserves may win a couple of games.

Can we all just have a breather and thank Essendon for being incompetent at nearly everything that has to do with football. They had a long, hard think about taking Phillipou or Tsatas, and decided to take the latter.

Also, it's easy to look at all of our lines and pick out holes. We currently lack quality across the ground, and that's digestible at the moment cause we are very young. The youth could become quality players and fill those gaps - it's an investment.

Looking at the players we are currently linked to this offseason, I can absolutely see how they could all make our squad stronger come round one next year. I would be happy with Bergman, TDK and Aleer... but for the right price.

We obviously lack key position depth at either end and they are quite hard to trade for sadly. Not having King this year has definitely hurt, cause Caminiti and Keeler don't have the quality yet (or ever) to hold down that number one spot.

Like most of us, I understand that this year is likely to include plenty of frustration. However, we have positioned ourselves to have a crack at finals IF we are good enough. Start with the Eagles and then go again next week.

We'd get much better draft picks if none of our players ever kicked goals. It's pretty devastating when we kick goals.

I like the logic.
First we should have got our inside midfield and ruck sorted.
That would give us the ability to win clearances.
Then we should have got our half backs and outside mids sorted.
Bleeding goals , so probably should get some tall backs.
Then all we need to do is get some elite goal kickers.

We drafted Paddy, then when it didn't work King.

I think if we have King and Sharman available, our tall forwards aren't too shabby.
Not sure that any team has a good forward line when their number 1 tall is out of action.

We drafted Paddy, then when it didn't work King.

You would have thought we would have learnt our lesson on drafting players with injury concerns. But we took another roll of the dice with a high draft pick.

Always remember his brother Ben was a more allround player without the highlight reel of Max. Was always a gamble.

Hope this one turns out for the best by 2030+

Tsatas makes Luke Dunstan look like NWM

One of the worst kicks you will see of the footy

He might end up a decent depth player but you’d want him super cheap. Essendon gave up Saad and D’Ambrosio who can kick and drafted him over Phillipou. As shit as we have been at least we aren’t them.

TBH I'm sick of us picking our midfield players from the scraps of AFL teams. I could list over 20 we have done this with in the last 15 years.

It just seems as though we don't give the midfield the attention it deserves, even last years draft our high level picks weren't used on midfielders.

He'd done an ACL.
Nothing since then has been related to his ACL.
Ben was considered a FWD/Back because he wasn't as good in the forward line as Max.
