Club Legend
Your cousin isn’t representative of all Aboriginal people (noting we don’t have any Torres Strait Islander players), and acknowledging culture by its own definition is incredibly complex which varies across settings, backgrounds, etc.My cousin was indigenous. If his workplace had singled him out and put pictures up of him about his journey and ancestry he would have hated being there. Maybe this newer group is different but I've known a few indigenous guys and most are shy and humble and hate being in the spotlight.
For context, cultural safety by its own definition can only be determined by the Aboriginal person who is a recipient of the service or the interaction (https://www.closingthegap.gov.au/si...mm-infra-targets-updated-24-august-2022_0.pdf).
The Aboriginal people at the club are best placed to guide how the workplace environment should be shaped for Aboriginal staff and players.
