WTF are you on about? When you’ve drafted hard topping up is the logical way to go. You don’t stuff up a whole era and pay huge draft capital for B graders the other way around. Even the most basic person could use logic to work that out.

I thought we’d given up even trying because the AFL want to assassinate the president and turn the children gay with fluoride.

RTB said last week that we have had do a list turnover because when he got here the list was at max salary cup and finishing 10th and 11th and you just can't have that. The club itself has said they got the top up period wrong

Yeah, obviously not writing him off, he’s barely had a run at it, i don’t really know the first thing about scouting early talent though. People say his hands are exceptional.

He hasn’t clicked for me yet. Keen to see him become a little more defined once he has 25-50 games under his belt

He and Xavier Lindsay looked incredible in the Metro v country match last year. Just ran like a rabbit to meet the ball and was off into attack with it as soon as he had it. I reckon he’s going to be a solid player at a bare minimum. To me he’s a pretty safe bet. Looks driven and competitive with solid skills. He’s a bit of an unexciting prospect because I think his scope for absolutely elite superstar level are a bit lower but his likelihood of being at least a good player are very high. The rest will need to come from the intangibles and they are hard to read.

I have lost faith in SOS after the Battle saga last year and are starting to lose faith in RTB and his group of coaches. Tauru may end up better than Battle but he is going to take years to get there, in the interim we will continue to struggle down back. Barrat was taken in front of a number of other options and he also has shown he is going to need time to get going.

TDK will be an improvement on Marshall but he is really the best we can do?
Bergman is hardly the elite midfielder we need?
Aleer is a pass for me....I would rather Serong from Hawthorn.
Gruzewksi, Derksen & McMullin would be the players preferred from GWS.

We need mature players all over the ground - elite tall forwards, defenders and midfielders if we are to acheive any sort of quick improvement.

Personally (and I’m not ITK so…) I think we’re trying to build a competitive and dynamic midfield with a good complimentary mix of skills rather than just trying to get the silver bullet generational mid. They’re so few and far between. As for the backs, Wilkie and Camma are doing a pretty admirable job in a team mostly rebuilding, Barrat should get games moving into next season and if he’s the third with Tauru intercepting then it doesn’t look that dire for 27 and beyond.

In reality we all hoped (and were sold) that 25 was a build and play finals, that’s not happening so the clock has to move to 26 as a build and 27 start to threaten.

We’ve still got a lot of internal improvement. Sharman, Owens, Higgins and Collard/Butler all look better if King gets fit. Henry, Travag, Pou all playing more mid minutes with Garcia, Macrae etc gives us a solid if unspectacular midfield that bats deep. Nas and Sincs with Camma and Barret to support Wilkie plus Tauru.

Now it COULD all go to shit real quick but I reckon you can at least see the plan now.

2019 we 6 years ago. Paddy gone, Jones will be gone, Howard stays because we stuffed the Battle business and we have no key back and Hill stays only because he was given an extension.
So probably only Butler should stay on merit in 2026 so it's natural attrition. If we can get a decent key back Howard would be gone also.

I think TDk is a Marshall clone both love hacking the ball forward out of the ruck and both good around the ground.

If we get TDK we will still have the same issues against the big monster rucks.

Who said anything about a flag Thick Brick? Building a list takes structure and discipline. We wasted 10 years ****ing around and have nothing to show for it. We are rebuilding again and all of your B grade heroes will be gone soon. Serong is a gun with years ahead. If you can't understand that it was a shit move you are a very basic human being.

Irrespective of if Marshall is better than TDK (based on 2025 form he isn’t).

It gives you an option to go get another first rounder + change from a list management lens.

And if letting a member of the senior core go in 23 + 24 is a guide for 2025 - it can only be Marshall or Steele.

So it’s a good move irrespective of the fact we are paying the rumoured amount.
