Clocks ticking on putting someone on the long term injury list. I sure hope the club pulls their finger out before the deadline. We have had probably more success from our mid season drafts than any other club recently.

Based on the current ladder, we'd have pick 3 in the mid season draft if we nominated either Cordy or Dow.

Given Howard's out perhaps they'd look at a tall defender rather than a "prospect". Nathan Krueger doesn't excite that much but if filling Cordy's spot then a maybe. Be a bit weird if we selected Adrian Cole.

Maybe go the King "insurance" route and select Liam McMahon, Archer May or Floyd Burmeister

How many absolute stars have GWS and GC got from their 300 first round picks? For all the academy and FS picks you only remember the good ones.

Collingwood probably win the flag this year with barely any high picks in the last 20 years. Geelong too. Bulldogs have a few free hits but probably less access to high picks than us. The also let a heap of stars walk out.

Carlton and Essendon took a shit load of high picks and barely played finals in the last 20 years.

If we picked up any of the guys I suggested we would have a better list.

You’ve gone to early on this. All of goldcoast good kids young and gonna be absolute star. All were free and because they could trade their first rounders they can add in top quality trades.
Brisbane are going to stay at the top because of free hits. Collingwood wouldn’t be anywhere without 2x diacos, Darcy Moore and quanor goes ok. Geelong has another advantage that no other club has to attract players.
The system is corrupt.

The difference is, his brother has had continuity and has been able to hone his craft over multiple seasons and offseasons.

I think, of the two, Max has a higher ceiling, hopefully injuries don’t rob him of the opportunity to display that.

I don’t really buy that he’s made of tissue paper, but he’s certainly had a really chequered career injury-wise so far.

The fact that he's played 83 out of 141 possible games since being drafted suggests that he is seriously injury prone. We also have no idea whether he'll play again this season. The tissue paper analogy seems fair

A generational player for free and his brother is pretty good too.
Moore another free player.

Bulldogs a heap of F/S, West, Liberators, Cordy's ( when they won the flag) Darcy.
Got the best player from an NGA for free, their fault they stuffed him up.

They had the opportunity, and then some.
It’s on them if they didn’t pick all the stars.

AFL is enshrined inequality. Everything is swept under the carpet with the defense of increasing crowd numbers. Heaven forbid if it ever reduces.

Feel like we have to go for a KPF. Behind King there is a serious lack of depth, and it's impacting our structures big time. We need someone who can compete for the get out kick down the line or long bomb inside 50 under pressure. If they can bring the ball to ground and chip in for 1 or 2 goals a game they will have done their job. I'd be looking at someone old enough to compete now but young enough to develop.

It also gives us the option to persist with Hammer back. If we're already eyeing up Leek Aleer next year then that will help our KPD stocks moving forward.

Actually i would have preferred Geelong to lose.

We already have a few of GWS's leftovers. Steele is the obvious one, but Sharman and Howard were in their academy as well.
Must be nice to have so much talent to choose from that even the players you don't want still go alright.

I'm not an in the know but I've now had two separate confirmations that NAS has signed at 1.3 a season. Not sure if it's 4 or two years.
One of the two I trust, the other I don't.
The second also said that TDK has essentially accepted our terms.

Yes but their scraps if you search properly are not scraps.

It’s been a strength of our recruiting of ours for almost 20 years under different people.

Steele was scraps , skunk was scraps, Higgins, butler etc.

With academy this becomes even better to try pet players from.

Nick Daicos is a superstar. Josh is an A grader but took a long time to get there. Darcy is around Wilkie level. Geelong look dodgy but you just have to control what you can and make sure you are always improving.
