Exactly, which is why a trade for Walter might not actually make that much sense for us.Recent results should tell us you don’t need dominant KPF’s to win a flag.
All you need is a contest from the KPF’s and hardworking, skilful mid and small sized players.
Any goals from KPF’s are a bonus.
Harry surrounded by these types is what we need.
I don’t think we’re that far off.
And if trading Charlie could net us some decent midsized fwds I think we’d be better off.

That's why Frankie looks so good.Been saying this for many years. The small hard running players always wins you premiership.
But Voss and Austin don't seem think so. They never addressed this issue.

The smalls make it all happen though, they can even turn a player like Neale into a half decent KPF with silver service delivery.Geelong wouldn't even have got anywhere near making it if it wasn't for Cameron. Dominant KPFs might not mean much in the grand final itself but they sure can help keep you in the hunt. We just don't know what we might need until other things fall into place.
Spending bulk assets & salary isn't the direction the club appears to be headed in & rarely do these sorts of trades result in team success.. because, well, you've spent bulk assets & salary on one player. Resulting in a bloated cap & top heavy list.HCJ I'd like to question why wouldn't you? It's exactly the path the club should be heading.
1.5mil is cheap, much rather pay that to butters than TDK
That is true. But it would be nice to finally fix the god damned half forward line once and for all.Focus on midfield.
a good strong midfield makes it all happen.
We can always build other parts with trades if/as required.
We have Walsh, Jagga Smith should develop into at least a capable mid, Cody Walker shapes as an elite prospect and we then have Cerra, Hewett & Cripps.. The midfield should be the last place our attention should be focused on.Focus on midfield.

Been saying this for genuinely years. Austin still yet to address it whatsoever. The premier has 5 small/Medium forwards in Cameron, Lohman, Rayner, Bailey, AhChee that are better than our best small/medium forward in Motlop.. This alone explains a lot.
And 3 or 4 of these guys can push into midfield roles also, great flexibility! The premier has 5 small/Medium forwards in Cameron, Lohman, Rayner, Bailey, AhChee that are better than our best small/medium forward in Motlop.. This alone explains a lot.
Yeah agree - that has been problematic for a while now. That is true. But it would be nice to finally fix the god damned half forward line once and for all.
Campbell would be the one for me, still fairly young too. Campbell, 2025 1st, 2026 1st, 2026 2nd and I'd let him go after some haggling. Use those picks to upgrade to 2 for Robey in this draft and secure Walker next year.Out of the teams, seemingly in the race for Curnow, the one needing him the most is Sydney. They really lack a consistent key forward. Also, he’s a draw card who they need.
I’d be happy with at least 2 first rounders and Hayward. If not Hayward, I’d be looking at Campbell - they aren’t playing him consistently in his best position off a HBF.
You cant be serious. We have Walsh, Jagga Smith should develop into at least a capable mid, Cody Walker shapes as an elite prospect and we then have Cerra, Hewett & Cripps.. The midfield should be the last place our attention should be focused on.
Clubs won't do it, will pay more money but must have list flexibility. What stops the players from doing them?
You reckon Sydney lack a consistent KFP, we lack consistent forwards as well…..Out of the teams, seemingly in the race for Curnow, the one needing him the most is Sydney. They really lack a consistent key forward. Also, he’s a draw card who they need.

I highly doubt the club let him go for that though. Wouldn't be an easy sell to the fans.
An elite HF like Bailey complements that group better than an elite midfielder wouldYou cant be serious.
You really think our mids can stand up to what we just witnessed through the finals campaign??
Jagga looks pretty good and cody could be a future star. Time will tell.
Both Cripps and Hewett are the types we need (bull like in and under players that can retrieve the ball) but both of them lack quality kicking skills and could do with a bit of burst speed. However, Cripps is an absolute powerhouse that makes up for some of his shortfalls with his ability to break through tackles and do superman like things.
Hewett is close enough for now.
Cerra - lets not kid ourselves, he is average/good and not the sort of mid that is going to win or make a significant enough contribution to win you finals. Not to mention his hamstring issues.
Walsh - Could be the next captain but still hasn't signed beyond 2026? Not to mention back issues and maybe the reason for his lack of burst speed/power. His kicking into f50 can be pretty bad too - has a tendency to bomb it long.
I's argue that KPF's who break their arm in a GF dont have an impactGeelong wouldn't even have got anywhere near making it if it wasn't for Cameron. I’d still take him in a heartbeat. At worst he gives us that target until ~2037. Spend the next 6-7 years on other positionsExactly, which is why a trade for Walter might not actually make that much sense for us.
Look forward to the AFL finalising and annoucning the new rules for the 2026 draft...Curnow aside, I'd be surprised if we upgrade to a higher position in this year's draft.
Outside of adding Buku, Chesser, Reidy & co, I think Austin has one specific priority: Come out of this year's trade period with enough draft capital in 2026 to match a potential #1 bid on Cody next year. That should be the club's expectation of Austin. Don't get cute when you have a player like Walker available to us.
I will have no issue if we swap our TDK compo for a pick in the teens next year. Walker will have Harley Reid like hype about him next year & because the AFL wanna **** us, we're gonna need multiple first round picks to leverage into a couple of high end 2026 picks.
Don't be surprised if we take on a player salary dump to gain an extra first rounder (e.g Geelong with Bowes)
Not to mention Geelong have arguably the best if not second best smalls in the game and they also didn’t get the job done.I's argue that KPF's who break their arm in a GF dont have an impact
Not saying wouldve won, but surely a fit Cameron would make a diffirence
That reminded me of that GWS game - remember Wietering went off for twenty minutes and it all went (or continued) to shit? Same happened to Geelong on Saturday
No offense to Austin but if the only thing he manages over the next two off season is matching bids on Dean, Ison, Walker and adding a few fringe players then he needs to pack his bags and f*** off.Curnow aside, I'd be surprised if we upgrade to a higher position in this year's draft.
