Even if their skills/disposal are poor?We should be ridding ourselves of those that continually let us down and reward those that give their all …
We can’t get rid of half the list lolEven if their skills/disposal are poor?

I don't think he was ever 100% gone. I think he thinks he was.Think the 31st is the final list lodgement date; the Hollands situation is very interesting.
I thought he was gone, but part of me now thinks that they might hold out until then to see if he can keep clean through the majority of the off-season.
5 probably gets ahead of Dean, but is no guarantee. Using CT's September rankings, and the current draft order, the first round would look like this (obvs not paying attention to needs and the fact that rankings will change).Could we see pick swaps with Essendon to move up the order? 9 and 11 for 5 and 21? Guarantee us a kid before Dean and use 21 plus the balance of other picks on Dean.
Tbh. I hope they do.Think the 31st is the final list lodgement date; the Hollands situation is very interesting.

Yeah would like to use one of this year’s first rounders into next years- even include Sydney F1 if we can get wce or north or Richmond. Reckon Essendon will hold on to theirsRecon collingwood would do pick 11 for their 2026 1st?
Then head to WC with pick 9 for 13, 34 and 41
34 41 and 43 get pulled in a few spots and we may scrape in for an Ison bid after 25.....

Reckon that's a potential trade scenario that'd suit both us and Essendon. They have limited list spots available similar to ourselves, so could see them looking to get a few more picks at the top end.The only way I can see us getting above a bid for dean is with Essendon. 9 and 11 for 6, 27 and 30. 27 and 30 will come in to 22 and 25 (1276 points) by the dean bid. That matches a bid at 9 which is where pick 6 will be after GC and Bris bids. We will also have enough points to match an Ison bid from 25. We need a handshake agreement with Essendon that they won’t bid the pick before. I don’t see Richmond bidding as they have several key position players. Essendon will then end with pick 8, 13, 15, and 19. Win win
8. Car - Dean (match - 1299. lose original picks 9, 11; gain 18)
18. Car - Dovaston (inserted)
25. Car - Jack Ison (match - 507. lose original picks 43, 54 (now about 36, 47), deficit ~70)

It was reported they were looking to get Hawthorns 1st (which is now ours) with their F1.
Id love their F1. Reckon itll fall earlier then everyone thinks.

This isn't a prediction by any means, it's just an example to show what we're looking at. And it's close to worst case for us with Dean at 8 and Ison at 25.
If we were to do the swap with Essendon (9 for 5), it only just gets us ahead of that bid, though I really don't expect Dean to go that high. What we don't know about yet though is whether the DVI changes might bring about a change in attitudes towards early bids on F/S and academy players. Bidding early can take a lot of the middle of the draft. For instance, Richmond at pick 3 might say "we've got 3, 4 then 38... what if we turn that 38 into a much higher pick?" then bid on all of the higher ranked F/S and academy picks to bring that 38 into the late 20s. Don't know, it's new territory, we'll find out draft night.
Anyway, long story short, if Essendon were prepared to that trade, it would be worth looking at. But we'd only do it if we were certain that a bid on Dean would come much later than in the scenario painted above, as pick 21 isn't going to get close to matching a bid if it comes in the top 10 - and our later picks won't help much either. So we may end up in deficit on the Dean bid alone, and unable to match Ison.
I'd think we'll probably be more cautious, and look to do some trading on our current picks for a better points spread, maybe sneak in an extra late round 1 pick, and/or maybe trade for a future round 1 pick. It's possible we may end up taking just Dean and Ison in the draft.
I'd love to keep at least one of them, but of course lack of list spots.Whats the chances if Flynn and White aren't retained due to no spots. We offer them a vfl contract and see how they go for maybe a spot on the seniors next year.
Carlton when they cut players due to no fault of their own. Do we help them still?
Really feel for them as I think they are worth persisting with. Very sad![]()
First rounder for next year boat for me. Purely because we now have no 2nd or 3rd rounder next year. The two currently held 1st get chewed up for Walker, forced to take 3 players, we are looking at some very back ended talent next year as our final two forced picks, on what is not only a good draft, but the last uncompromised draft prior to Tassie. What's everyone's preferences - trying to trade down lower to get another kid ahead of Dean, or another (or better) first rounder for 2026?

Yes obviously we can get back into the 2nd and 3rd rounder over the next trade period (and this pick swap period), but I think it should be a priority.
It wouldn't surprise me if we were able to get another prospect before a Dean bid, as is.What's everyone's preferences - trying to trade down lower to get another kid ahead of Dean, or another (or better) first rounder for 2026?
