Gov signing was a bit of a hold up.
Needs to do plenty of work to get fit now.
Toby Greene could be calling him skinny Papley by mistake.
Delistings will be announced soon.
Gov should have already been in training mode. He doesn’t get it if he hasn’t been knocking the training sessions over on O/T.

wasn't newman february?

As for HOF I just don't think they will make the call yet
Agree.

The only advantage into declaring HOF out early is that we'd be able to pay a train-on player.

The disadvantage is that HOF might be good to go earlier than expected, and we'd miss getting some games into him (even if at VFL level).

imo, we make a call in Feb before the SSP closes.

Either way, I'm looking forward to him putting on some size

Saw Gov at the club a couple of weeks ago. At the gym and doing repeat sprints around Princes Park.

Stopped a few metres from me to spew up at one stage 😅. Looked in great shape and was training really hard.

Not if they are hoping he plays late next year. Already running etc
Not this mindset again... put him on the season list, someone else will go down at some point, and if he makes a late run we can then get dispensation to bring him off the season list.

I do like a good spew to know that someone’s putting in the hard yards - on & off the field…

It's not that easy.

We have to get AFL sign-off on putting him on the Inactive List. That needs to be based on reasonable data indicating it is a season-ending injury.

If he recovers early, we'd then again need to get AFL sign-off, showing that something has changed from the original diagnosis, and he's now available to return. There would need to be a list spot available (e.g. another player going on to the Inactive List as you suggest).

To my knowledge, this has never happened (in the 7 or 8 years the Inactive List rules have been in place).

Disagree. A young kid having a carrot is very important. It was an August ACL and apparently tracking very well. If no issues he could easily be playing by July after having a heap of training

The benefits of coming back getting some games next year and then a pre season are huge.

They won’t play him unless he’s ready

With Gov & EH we’re at 34 of 36 senior.
3 at the draft means 1 to go (EH rumoured).

The only thing is the list spots on the draft picks taken into the draft with points wanted for matching bids with later picks.

If contracted players are released, then it would likely be to be re-rookied with rookies to be upgraded potentially unless it’s the payout & cya later route.
We need 4 primary list spots free, 2 contracted players must go.

Possibly they could be re rookied

Not necessarily.
Will White, and maybe Flynn Young (who nobody knows the contract status of) along with Lij.
As I have said before, we will need 4 primary list spots to take 4 picks to the draft for matching, trading etc.

Therefore 2 must go off the primary list.

Cavanagh even saying in the article we want to make 4 selections in the ND.

I think White is in trouble. I hope that Charleson has re signed as he looked good to me

IMO we need three draft spots and at least one more for a DFA or SSP.
I doubt we take a DFA, that would mean 3 more contracted players delisted from the primary list.

Not that impressed with Austin over Mcgovern. Dismal/embarrassing.

Austin and Voss made a point to not play him and trigger a new contract then told him to look elsewhere. The turnaround is poor from both a planning point of view and strength point of view. Carry on being conditional mr mcgovern.

You’re a little bit confused.
We currently have 1 list spot, ie 41 (34/7) players not including the 2 Irish Cat B.

If we want to take 4 picks to the draft, we can do so by cutting 1 Senior player (Lij by all reports) and 2 rookies ie the uncontracted White, and the presumably uncontracted Flynn Young.
We would hit the draft with a list of 33/5 and the ability to draft 4 Senior players, although it is much more likely that we would only take 3.

Like McGovern getting the one year.
Missing out on BUKU saved him
Hopefully he can have a big pre season
If Kemp doesn’t get up in the early rounds
I can see gov starting up forward.
