Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
With his stuffed shoulder not sure how good he’ll now be.Acres had a disappointing year but his major point of differential from our other wingers is his work as an aerial threat. He has massively influenced games at Carlton with that alone in both arcs.
My disappointment has zero to do with his skill as a footballer, but rather the example he sets for others with his lack of commitment and physicality in defence. Mind boggling to me that he is the type that the club want to be a senior mentor for the likes of Dean/O'Farrell/Cowan/Carroll. We are playing with fire IMO.I think there is a Bigfooty consensus on McGovern and his impact on 'culture' that is completely at odds with how he is seen by the club and almost anyone in footy land.
McGovern is a good solid player who unfortunately gets injured any time he tries to play as a forward for more that 2 weeks, but is otherwise pretty solid as a roaming key defender, a position in which we are woefully thin.
He is a better fit for the mobile backline that Voss has tried to play than anyone named. The fact he can play forward for a few weeks before injury inevitably hits is a bonus given we won't have Kemp or Curnow this year
But those SSP and midseason picks are rookie list spots not senior list. SSP are rookies. They don't join the senior list.Ok I wasn't aware that we had to be certain it was a season ending injury, I'm not a fan of this mechanism then and would prefer an injury reserve and the ability to dig into the VFL list for standalone and affiliated clubs.
Look I can agree with that in principle if there's the flexibility, but I'm disappointed that we're going to be down a player until at least July.
We had one list spot spare and brought in two via SSP and then a mid-season rookie through injuries. Jagga and Kemp are now back, so we have an extra two delistings to make to make our numbers.
They are considered rookies, but they make up the 42 spots allocated to the senior list and Cat A, and ultimately calls must be made about that when players become active again, and also when the rookie list is oversubscribed (more than 6 cat A).But those SSP and midseason picks are rookie list spots not senior list. Sure were going to have to delist our rookies but thats no big deal. We'll just redraft them if we want to keep them.

I think you can also promote a rookie to resolveProblem (if you can call it that) is that we are already oversubscribed on rookies, so we have to fix that. I'm not 100% certain, but I think we need to fix it by the list lodgment next week, so I think that means cutting at least one current rookie (though we can commit to re-rookie).
He could possibly have been a decent midfielder but he's not a forwards arseh*le.No chance fog gets delisted he is a very solid player had a poor year this year, but so did 80% of the playing list.
If we actually get some forward structure he is 100% capable of holding down a spot/be a very good depth player can't keep cutting the list to deep hes been in our best 23 for the last 3 years
Yeah, the bit I'm not sure about is the timing on rookie promotion. I know for sure it can be done during the ND (last pick in the draft is used for the rookie promotion). But can we do it now, before the first list lodgment date (31-Oct)? Or can we say to the AFL we're planning to promote a rookie, so it's ok to have 7 rookies till the draft? Not sure, and the rules don't spell it out.I think you can also promote a rookie to resolve
Maybe Lord or Evans?
Please GW just go full campaigner mode and pick up Ah Chee in the PSD if he gets to our pick
Can't rule it out with Voss coach. He loves fog.Won't get a game next yr![]()
He'll get games, there's going to be players missing games along the wayCan't rule it out with Voss coach. He loves fog.
No idea but if teams are planning on screwing us with F/S bids then the gloves should well and truly be off. Would walk into our 22 easily. Why not. Is there a genuine chance we pull that surprise?
With no setbacks he could get 2/3/4 reserve games under his belt, good confidence boost leading into the next season…He did his ACL in August. Unlikely he plays next year.
Figured we could lock some guys in at bottom $ in exchange for extra security. At a time when we were trying to fit all our stars plus TDK into the cap. I get it. Durdin was another one. Cottrell should have years, not 3.The funny thing about Boyd and Fogarty extensions is that they were done when they were best 22 players in a finals side and should’ve been going into their prime. 2 years on low dollars didn’t seem crazy. Binns was a second year player killing it in the VFL. He was still 19 when he extended
In hindsight they were all mistakes but I can see how it happened.
Agree, some short memories on here.No chance fog gets delisted he is a very solid player had a poor year this year, but so did 80% of the playing list.

don’t you dare bring logic and context into thisThe funny thing about Boyd and Fogarty extensions is that they were done when they were best 22 players in a finals side and should’ve been going into their prime. 2 years on low dollars didn’t seem crazy. Both cleary and Cavenagh today have said 4 in ND.I would assume 3 in draft and 1 for DFA/SSP.
I can’t believe we aren’t looking for a mature KPD like Phillips or Frost etc
I am also not sure if we are looking at Gresham or Clarke later in draft/rookie?
If we are we would need at least 5 spots heading into draft
It’s not that we don’t remember, it’s just that he hasn’t been that player of late has he?Agree, some short memories on here.
In '23 he was pivotal to finally putting some tackling pressure into our forward line - his first match was our turnaround game against the suns where we went 10-2 for the remainder of the season.
White certainly would if, no other offers from other clubs and the understanding of the list situation this year, with the possibility of another chance if he progresses again along with another 5/6 list spots likely to open up end of year..Yeah, but not if you've already been delisted. Nobody stays with the VFL team after that.
NiceAFL app reported him as re-signed a week or two ago.

Looks like we are really serious, and they are settled on the direction they want to move in at the Club
Of course we had to.
Your ignorance is astounding

I think we do have to go down to 6 rookies by next week by cutting a rookie, but don't know for sure.
