That is possible but very unlikely. Port some chance to not take a single player in the draft at all. They will consider a pick at 49 and if they pass they won’t be making a bid on Whan or Luke at 74.Port or GWS could bid on Luke Ryda or Toby Whan after we’ve passed and they probably get them.
Only if we don't want them on the main list. You can pass and use later picks.
No, we have done it.I’m not sure it’s been tested before, the general gist is once you pass, you’re done. But if someone bids on your academy kid after passing hasn’t been tested and no-one is completely sure.

We have 34 on the current list and extend that to 38. Gives 4 picks but I think we use just 2 picks, maybe another one if somebody is on the board. We'll pass the last two.
Our rookies have already been upgraded.

I vividly remember us passing multiple times before Essendon bid on Western and then we matchedNo we didn’t, we did these stupid trades to get picks later in the draft, see the opening post of my trading criticisms of David Walls.
Should've said the plan will be to pass the last two if the last few years is anything to go by.We have 34 on the current list and extend that to 38. Gives 4 picks but I think we use just 2 picks, maybe another one if somebody is on the board.
Exactly. I assumed we were going to let Western go to whoever, if anyone, bid on him and was stunned that we matched the bid even though we had passed a few times. I wasn't aware until then that it could be done that wayI vividly remember us passing multiple times before Essendon bid on Western and then we matched
In recent drafts clubs have been able to pass draft picks but stay in the draft. That'd allow us to stay at 36 players until a Whan bid comes - If it doesn't we just take him as a Category B.That is possible but very unlikely. Port some chance to not take a single player in the draft at all. They will consider a pick at 49 and if they pass they won’t be making a bid on Whan or Luke at 74.
Honestly we won’t be matching Luke in the ND.
Whan though I would have thought would be some chance to be bid in the 50’s. We only have GWS to worry about and I really can’t see them making a bid that late on Whan.
I vividly remember us passing multiple times before Essendon bid on Western and then we matched
but I think we passed only once. Either way I
agree that we did it. I remember it vividly.Ryda Luke if passed over ND and PSD goes straight onto rookie list Cat-B. There is a spot for him as Cat-B rookie but not the ND as a primary list spot. He is very raw and rookie list is best for him. Cat-A rookie is not an option for Ryda it is Cat-B or nothing. In recent drafts clubs have been able to pass draft picks but stay in the draft. Can't see us matching a bid for Luke. Doubt we'd consider him as a Category A rookie tbh - List spots are valuable and we can't waste them.
Knew Category A wasn't an option for Luke.Ryda Luke if passed over ND and PSD goes straight onto rookie list Cat-B. There is a spot for him as Cat-B rookie but not the ND as a primary list spot. Whan different. The communication from Walls lends towards us matching in ND but we are confident of getting first two picks in before a bid. We are quietly hopeful Whan slips through to Cat-B rookie.
I see now. Yes agree with your thoughts.Knew Category A wasn't an option for Luke.
Was just saying that IMO he hasn't done enough to warrant taking up one of our 42 list spots (Senior list and Category A).
He's worth a shot as a Category B though.
Tbh I think it's more likely than unlikely that Whan slips through as well. Wouldn't be surprised either way. Would be surprised if the bid comes inside our second pick.
Still think NOD has the potential to be a solid B grader - not there in 25 thoughI think if we improve our 4th to 6th midfielder then we should be good.
Ideally we need 1 or 2 small forwards who can provide pressure and kick goals.
Think JOM, NOD, Dudley become depth plus Frederick has serious pressure on him to perform.
I don’t think NOD is a good wing, which is the problem, all of Johnson, Ras and NOD are best as inside mids.Still think NOD has the potential to be a solid B grader - not there in 25 though![]()
Nope, we definitely passed and then matched the bids on themNo we didn’t, we did these stupid trades to get picks later in the draft, see the opening post of my trading criticisms of David Walls.
You are correctI vividly remember us passing multiple times before Essendon bid on Western and then we matched
Ew please noMason Cox to freo on a 2 year SSP deal lol

Fremantle are interested in securing Cox as back-up to ruck pair Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson.
Cox, the premiership Collingwood ruckman by way of Texas, who played in the losing preliminary final with the Magpies, was delisted by the club at season’s end.
The US-born former college basketballer is available to clubs either as a delisted free agent or potentially as a rookie in the supplementary list (SSP) signing period.
The Dockers would most likely be interested in Cox joining as an SSP rookie potentially on a two-year deal.
Clubs will further review their lists and playing needs after next week’s national draft, so more clubs could yet pursue the 34-year-old.
Mason is completely finished. Not the worst stop gap.
