He played one good season for us and that was a contract year. Awful prior to that, and never wanted to be here anyway.Similar to Meek, I never cared about losing him. Snow patrol that's always been cringly overrated by the media and Carlton fans

You can’t argue that we need to play Erasmus ahead of JOM cause he’s younger and at the same time say we need to play aish instead of Worner. Pick a lane.
Agreed.Bro your Omeara hate is next level and kind of unhinged. He's playing well.
What's the deal?

Not one of those players is a Bona fide inside mid or first possesion/clearance mid tho
I mean for starter’s odriscoll is already playing there ,
Bolten is fwd first with stints mid and is already doing that now
Chapman has not as far as I know played any inside mid minutes and if /when he does it’ll be as a winger -and jlos still hasn’t trialled him in a game for any extended period even there yet
Reid I ageee will eventually be starting mid but asking him to do inside grunt work in his second yr and considering the value he brings to our team currently in other positions would be very poor player management
And finally picketts just like Bolten but with even less mid time , especially considering we desperately need both as fwds the majority of game
Think our midfield is fine over the next few years, the real issue will come if Noddy or Johnno walks out to better offers (we aint gonna be able to pay them)
Bray, Sebba, Young, Johnno, Noddy, Reid, Bolton
Thats a good rotation of midfielders
Then you add the pinch hitters in Swit and hopefully Simpson
Thats plenty of mids for centre bounce rotationThat’s not enough midfielders even for the best 22 considering two of the top group are forwards first in our current team IMO.
We need a winger like that can run all day but ideally they’d be a little bit higher skilled than Sharp. 2024 Sharp would be fine IMO.
Also think it’s one of the most important positions to have good depth in. Probably only after the key positions tbh. I really don’t think losing Erasmus is going to end well. He’s not going to be as easy to replace as people think. It’ll be either a draftee or an absolute spud from an opposition club and for the latter we’re probably limited to ex-WA boys or players literally no one else wants.
It's the little rays of hope. That don't really come out very often. There is some serious sunk cost fallacy about Erasmus on here. Few would care about him being dropped if the number 10 draft pick wasn’t spent on him.
He plays like someone selected in the 3rd round and I'm glad that the selection doesn’t share the same delusion.

Don't buy this. There's people who talk about Ethan Stanley still, and many more who did a while back (MSD). Cooper Simpson gets brought up a lot and some are excited about a potential half back move (pick 35). Dudley has played 1 decent game and some are ready to crown him over Switta (SSP). There's a bias towards "newer toys", but it goes well beyond Neil's pick status. There is some serious sunk cost fallacy about Erasmus on here. Few would care about him being dropped if the number 10 draft pick wasn’t spent on him.

Weirdos worrying about losing midfield depth in Brodie and Ras. AFL standard mature inside mids don't sit in seconds waiting for an injury. They find a spot on a flank or wing or they go to another club.
Brodie is finished and Ras imo is 50/50 to make it as a role player.
I still rate him. He was fantastic in his first year, and is a proven ball winner at stoppages. The criticism is the lack of two way running but the same could be said of Fyfe.Does anyone on here actually rate Brodie anymore?
Only reason his name comes into this conversation is because without Fyfe and Erasmus he’s the only inside mid left that’s not best 22. Season after JOM most likely retires. I don’t think anyone sees him in best 22 when JOM retires - In fact I think he’s delisted anyway. For me Brodie is only an issue because he should’ve been delisted last year (yes, he’s contracted and that’s why) and they should be a young inside mid developing in his place.
People on here are deluded if they think that our midfield can win a flag without the size advantage in the centre.Agree
As you said in earlier post my big worry is that Erasmus ****s off end of the year and Aish delisted , only to then have Fyfe pull the pin , Brodie obviously gone and of course JOM the following year and all of a sudden we have virtually zero big inside mid depth outside of shuffling players from other positions.
So whilst we meant to be smack bang contending we’ll be back to first /second yr draftees for our immediate depth in the most crucial part of the ground.
All at the same time Ras will still be ONLY 22/23
But what really annoying to me is this idea of “ oh we’re not in the stage gifting games “ , our aim is to compete in big finals blah blah
but tell me what the **** have these people seen from this team so far this year(after perhaps the greatest talk up of prospects pre season from a freo team in I can remember since RTB days , you know when ACTUALLY played off in big finals) to suggest we’re anywhere near that stage of development yet?
In fact at the rate this teams progressing we’d be lucky to make finals
What a waste to see Ras walk end of this year and we don’t even make the 8!
I mean that line of thinking might have some credence if where bringing back a gun in young or experienced head in Fyfe but we’re doing neither
And again it’s not like Ras was a passenger jlo talked him up post game so he’s either doing something right and what’s asked of him but still dropped coz jlos does have favs or he’s simply full of shit
I’m not sure what’s worse
I think Brodie was great for half to three quarters of a season.I still rate him. He was fantastic in his first year, and is a proven ball winner at stoppages. The criticism is the lack of two way running but the same could be said of Fyfe.
Nah Acres would be better than sharp, both can't kick but at least acres can make a contest. Sharp is one of the weakest contest players I have ever seen. Can we stop talking about Acres. Seriously overrated. Would rather Sharp.
Probably, but Perth would probably be the last possible place.Does anyone reckon Petracca is open to a move after last night?
He's clearly going to try to move again but there is no chance he's coming here.Does anyone reckon Petracca is open to a move after last night?
Surely of those 3 Trac would be the priority given how all over the shop Oliver has been, and how little they'd trust Pickett long term. He's clearly going to try to move again but there is no chance he's coming here.
Melbourne will probably have to choose which 2 out of Trav, Oliver and Pickett they trade and keep the other one so the place isn't gutted all at once.
