It would border on gross list mismanagement if we gave up another 3 firsts for another small forward, especially another one who will eat a sizeable amount of cap. Where the f*** is the money for the role/depth players coming from? Or are we happy that Banfield et. al. will fill those roles on a dime?

We paid a lot for Jacko.
Paid overs for Shai.
We need to pull our ****ing heads in.

Bolton cost roughly the same as Erasmus and Johnson who are both doing F*** all at the moment.

Sam Sturt was a first rounder and he's never on the park.

Treacy is arguably our most important player and was a rookie pick.

If we make the 8 this year Kozzie for 3 x first rounders is fair with a couple of thirds coming back with the 2027 draft being the Tassie draft so that first rounder could be in the 30's.

Yeah no player is worth 3 first rounders. We literally have the perfect example with Shai last year. Contracted for longer than Kozzie and is a better player and he only cost two firsts.

The media will always talk up vic players value. Kozzie is not getting 20 and 5 every week. He’s worth two firsts.

For the umpteenth time, "firsts" is such a vague word. It could be pick 5, it could be pick 20. Kozzie could be worth 3 firsts with what our hand might be projected to be, and factoring in where those picks will actually end up. Or Kozzie could be worth 1 first if we plummet to the bottom 5.

Future firsts all mean the same thing.

Huh? Where a club is projected to finish has to be considered. Our F1 is worth way less than WC's F1. And the 2027 draft is going to be pillaged by Tasmania (I think 6 or 7 of the first 12 picks), so F1's in that draft are greatly devalued. I would say our F1 for 2027 would be valued less than Melbourne's F2 for 2026.

How often do clubs under perform?

You watched Pickett tear us a new arse from the midfield and forward and thought “let’s worry about role players?”

Pickett is not only a small forward. He is like Bolton and I’ll take two Bolton every day of the week and Twice on Tuesday’s

Pickett is worth 2 firsts the same as Bolton.

I don't get why people get hung up on picks that aren't a sure thing. The reason Bolton and Jackson were worth what they were worth was because we knew what player we were getting. A draftee is a completely unknown and for every Bont or fyfe you get a billings or Tambling.

Currently with trading out our First round we still have enough points with a bit extra.
If he’s pick 14 and below we cover him using both our second and our two thirds.

Which then means we have zero points left to cover bids on Hart, Phillips, Luke and Nomlatyu if we want them AND we will have to go into deficit for Robinson in 2026 if he goes higher than 14.

It is likely most of those will be taken late anyway but still…

We could really use Switta and Ras being traded out for a couple of thirds tbh

I’m not fussed with draft picks but Twomey now saying with confidence that Koz is going to be getting paid a million a season…?
How could we afford that

Our second round pick can be downgraded for 2 thirds and gaining extra points.

Also we maybe to get the Demons third round.

That’s most likely enough for Whan, Hart, and another NGA.

Is that the updated values?

No. Our current picks after the 1st would be 28, 40 and 46. 877 points. Note that there's a 10% discount on bids from selection 1 to 18 followed by an 84-point deduction (being 10% of selection 18) for all bids from selection 19 to 36.

With the discount, the highest bid our picks after the first can match alone would be 15. If we pull the finger out at some point this season, might be closer to the 700 point range.
