Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
We didnt have pick 9 though, we had to bundle picks to match the bid so Pickett was never going to get to our next pick. If you look at that draft its a ripperCarlton slipping a bid in early meant we had to use pick 9 on Liam and Kozzie went a few picks later.
FFS. How many times does this have to refuted. We DID NOT use pick 9 on Henry. We had used pick 7 & 8 on Young and Serong. We didn’t have a pick after them in the first round to get Kossie. We matched Henry’s bid with and aggregate of later round picks which we went into deficit with. Someone which the exact details can post it. Matching for Henry did not cost us Pickett.Carlton slipping a bid in early meant we had to use pick 9 on Liam and Kozzie went a few picks later.

And we don’t have Serong.Picking Caleb Serong cost us Pickett, and probably would have seen our academy player bid on later (at the Melbourne pick) because Carlton wanted Hayden Young and Caleb Serong in that order, then had nobody left to pick and needed time to arrange a trade to move back to where their next player targets were.
So we could have had Hayden Young #7, Kosi Pickett #8, Serong goes to Carlton at #9, Melbourne bid on Green at #10, Melbourne bid on Henry at #11, Melbourne pick Cody Weightman at #12
Similar to how a Freo player went to Carlton and their under the table payments were exposed.
Good clutch of Gardies there mateYes it is. View attachment 2340850
This morning at the South Mole. Not mine. A regular fisher at the mole who I was chatting too. He had another dozen herring also. Using Wogs for bait.Good clutch of Gardies there mate
Yeah, i don't know how it gives them leverage if it goes south again. Maybe it means he can't be traded so has to stay but trading that contract completely guts his options. When his form falls and he requests a trade in two years but now Dees will be paying half his contract to send him elsewhere >>>>
Was that the Steven O’reilly move?Oh really?
A little known fact, Liam Henry was actually in the room for that famous McLeod interview. Hes the real reason we lost McLeod to Adelaide.Carlton slipping a bid in early meant we had to use pick 9 on Liam and Kozzie went a few picks later.
Mostly agree. This is how I see it.

We were dreaming of fitting both in at one stage which has turned out to be 2.8m at year at the moment, excluding the draft Capital. We've always been used to bump up contracts but usually they use us to then get within 80% of our offer, now they are paying 30% more.Chads 2 year deal was at mega money too, more than we would have offered
I very much doubt the club will trade Darcy
I think we try and get some currency for Brodie. Even a 3rd round adds points for any potential NGA bidding.
We got rid of him when he wanted to continue. He was very much a Melbourne supporter for a long period of time after that and only thawed to Freo a couple of years ago through is indigenous contacts.Yeah Benny’s isn’t anything to get excited about. One thing (outside of all the other stuff) that surprised/annoyed me was the assertion that one of the players it ‘didn’t work out for’ was Jeff Farmer. How so?
He ll be delisted end of this year.Yep that's a sliding door moment if there ever was one.
They would love us.So how about Jesse Motlop ooc this off-season and getting absolutely wrecked by Carlton fans on social media..........
It was really only ever about the optics of an NGA product and that the kid had his own business and i think they were thinking about a Son Son replacement at the time. Completely different players and i think we overestimated his ability. He ll be delisted end of this year.
How did we ever get sucked into that shit I’ll never know. Ended up going to Melbourne anyway, because of his lifestyle. Carlton should’ve just taken the spud and be done with it
