We didnt have pick 9 though, we had to bundle picks to match the bid so Pickett was never going to get to our next pick. If you look at that draft its a ripper

FFS. How many times does this have to refuted. We DID NOT use pick 9 on Henry. We had used pick 7 & 8 on Young and Serong. We didn’t have a pick after them in the first round to get Kossie. We matched Henry’s bid with and aggregate of later round picks which we went into deficit with. Someone which the exact details can post it. Matching for Henry did not cost us Pickett.

Picking Caleb Serong cost us Pickett, and probably would have seen our academy player bid on later (at the Melbourne pick) because Carlton wanted Hayden Young and Caleb Serong in that order, then had nobody left to pick and needed time to arrange a trade to move back to where their next player targets were.

So we could have had Hayden Young #7, Kosi Pickett #8, Serong goes to Carlton at #9, Melbourne bid on Green at #10, Melbourne bid on Henry at #11, Melbourne pick Cody Weightman at #12

And we don’t have Serong.

Mostly agree.
I think we try and get some currency for Brodie. Even a 3rd round adds points for any potential NGA bidding.

McDonald has shown enough in the games he’s played that he deserves a contract extension. WCE will be very interested if McGoverns concussion reviews isn’t a favourable one. Would rather he was depth for us than a player for Methcoast.

No need to keep Narkle now Kossie has signed with the Ds.

If we delist Delean we need a Walls special as small forward back up.

I think Aish still has some AFL footy left him just not at Freo. Might get something for him if he doesn’t want to go to the PSD.

I very much doubt the club will trade Darcy

We were dreaming of fitting both in at one stage which has turned out to be 2.8m at year at the moment, excluding the draft Capital. We've always been used to bump up contracts but usually they use us to then get within 80% of our offer, now they are paying 30% more.

I am just going off what Daniels has said. I think if someone offers us a late 1st, early 2nd for him then we take it.

Yeah Benny’s isn’t anything to get excited about. One thing (outside of all the other stuff) that surprised/annoyed me was the assertion that one of the players it ‘didn’t work out for’ was Jeff Farmer. How so?

We got rid of him when he wanted to continue. He was very much a Melbourne supporter for a long period of time after that and only thawed to Freo a couple of years ago through is indigenous contacts.

It was really only ever about the optics of an NGA product and that the kid had his own business and i think they were thinking about a Son Son replacement at the time. Completely different players and i think we overestimated his ability.
