There is no world in which Clark should be moved. He is exactly where we need him to be.

I would always play my best batsman at no 3 and my best players on ball. I know Ross the boss disagrees, he used to play his best players in defence.

Its easier to defend and to halve a contest than it is to win it outright (which is why I rank Carey well over Jakovich as an aside)

If the above was 100% true about no worlds, then by the same mantra we would never have moved Hayden Young as he was dominating in his original position. Of course it might not work but I would rather see Clark dominate the midfield than dominate half back.

Great awesome. Last I heard Corey is an assistant coach under Longmuir. Doing his job. What the f**k is the point? Oh I get it trying to heap some more shit on the head coach. Just childish and amateur.

It wasn't because of big footy. It was because Corey wanted him in the midfield asap but Young and Justin wanted to allow more time to perfect his backline craft. Didn't want him to feel pressured. It wasn't a criticism, it just shows a different philosophy. Young was adamant he didn't want to play midfield at that time and Justin was supportive of that mainly because it aligns with his own beliefs, i gather.

Bloke is 32 and coming off long injury.

Ned Long has probably superseded him.

BUT if he gets through the year with no more injuries he’d be worth a 2 year on low money.

DESPERATE DEES WAIT ON JUDD​

Melbourne is still searching for the signature of quality defender Judd McVee, who is not yet ready to commit to the club as he searches for clarity over his role in coming years.
McVee battled with a long-term hamstring injury early in the year and has been part of the club’s defensive struggles.
The WA boy is not fielding offers from rival clubs but has had the Demons contract offer in front of him since last year and is yet to re-sign.
He would love to play as a more aggressive defender playing higher up the ground and even on the wing at times to use his kicking skills.
But he remains typecast as a last-line lockdown defender on the dangerous smalls that populate the game.
So while it is not panic stations yet, the Demons will be desperately hoping he makes the decision to commit.

I seem to remember Clark was a WC supporter. Yeo was a Freo supporter. Both of them would thank their lucky stars they didn't end up at the club they supported.

Bobby has a choice if he wants to go back to WA ... horror show or contender. You'd have to be a hardcore fanboi like Baker to choose the horror show.

We have been linked to Jairong for a while. I think that's a shrewd value pick-up if we can make that work

If depth is a concern, getting a Hill, Jairong and McVee for what is probably a similar cap and draft capital cost to Pickett by himself would be a nice little offseason. Similar to Adelaides offseason though probably down on quality / bit more unproven

For me it’s players probably 11-20 on our list that are the real problem. Let’s be honest players 21-30 aren’t that far behind them but 11-20 are miles behind players 1-10 and as a result the team cannot adequately cover these players being out of the team.

Brayshaw, Serong, Bolton, Treacy, Pearce, Clark, Jackson and Young are clearly A Graders when fully fit. Ryan can be on his day, whilst Switkowski is clearly way above average you want from a small forward in everything other than kicking goals. Add almost combination of players 11-30 on our list and keep a reasonably balanced team in terms of roles and positions and tbh I don’t think we’re really seeing much difference in performance. Almost none of those players are capable of standing up to nearly the standard that top ten are atm. We need probably 5-6 more players in the team that are above average at worst - atm those guys are about average at best.

I’m more than happy with the number of players on our list that can step in to replace players 11-23 in the AFL side btw. That hasn’t been the issue for years except maybe where we have/had clear weaknesses in the best 22 anyway imo.

Adding depth to the list won’t do anything. Adding quality best 22 players is what we need - McVee and Hill would clearly be that.
