You thinking #11 for Simpkin is quite amusing. Don't worry, your mindset was spot on ladWhat’s funny Mike91?
Is it the mindset thing? It is isn’t it?
What part was funny about my Simpkin post?
At the cost of 13 and some salary being paid (maybe a small upgrade in our favour for one of our other picks), I think he would be a good addition. As also someone who wants him, my read is completely different. Both parties are keen for the break-up and any public reasoning is rubbish. Pick 11 is actually overs going off the North board, we'd get some good salary (hes overpaid) chucked in and a pick back
I feel like we are overpaying in all three of those hypotheticals. I reckon 11 for Simpkin and F4, our current 2nd for McVee and our 3rd for Serong. Means we use Richmond's 3rd this year (hopefully Pickett or Rodriguez slide) and then pick up Whan. Alternatively F1 for Simpkin would be fine by me. I am in the camp that Robinson will slide to mid/late first round.Spitballing here… Our picks 11 and 29 for Simpkin and North’s pick 20 (on the basis they pay a portion of his salary) then on trade pick 20 for Mcvee and Melbourne’s third rounder. Use that third rounder to trade for Serong. We go to the draft with just our third and change which would hopefully get us the younger Curtin or a Pickett / Kickett forward. Would really lift our floor and add an extra quality inside / outside mid in Simpkin. It’s your bottom 6 players that often decide games. I like the idea of spending low to mid range capital to get mid range players (eg Mcvee) to push out the bottom 6 and lift our floor. Trading to lift your ceiling (I.e Petracca, Merret etc) is bloody expensive !!!

I think we would keep Serong! Plenty to go before him, only Jai wants senior game time now.
If he could hold on I reckon his senior game time would increase in 2026 and 2027.
Commonsense would suggest there's a reason North aren't playing him in his natural position and why he doesn't have many suitors. You think the captain of a club with 4 years left on decent dollars is going to come here for mates rates?
You probably think Humphries will go to Pies for a F2. Great mindset at the Pies!
Wish Freo could lure a Simpkin over with 4 years left and offer North O’Driscoll and a swap of 4ths.
Fair call, I’m just going by past history of feeling slightly shafted on most trades at the time (then hopefully happy in retrospect!)I feel like we are overpaying in all three of those hypotheticals. Still, I doubt it happens as we haven't been seriously linked yet and Walls seems to be keen on someone in this draft.
Saints won’t be dying wondering.
That’s a fair improvement in their side, even giving Silvagni being massively over rated
Its a pretty brilliant off season for Saints assuming the cap space they have makes overpaying TDK and Silvagni a non-factor.Marshall out for Sam De Koning and a pick?
Then if the Dogs want to pay insane overs for Wilkie?
I don’t mind it tbh
It's a very bizzare one. The rest, albeit on huge money, position wise makes sense. Ryan though.......odd.Its a pretty brilliant off season for Saints assuming the cap space they have makes overpaying TDK and Silvagni a non-factor.
The only one I think is stupid is Liam Ryan
The others are a good age group as well though without checking, maybe Ryan and Silvagni are closer in age then I realise. It's a very bizzare one. The rest, albeit on huge money, position wise makes sense. Ryan though.......odd.
Well that escalated quickly.
Snuff/ AnybodyThere'll.be no DFA or SSP for him he'll need to be traded for and if JL has gone over to spruik him his role I think the club value him higher than most think.
(Puts mod hat on) Probably enough of getting personal even though Mike has a thicker skin than most#mindset
At the Pies we over pay for guys and then force them out and pay their salary to other clubs.
We sell dreams to blokes with 3 years left on a contract, holding a solid hand of picks 37, 56, 68 and 74.
We’re all about fooling blokes with an IQ less than 80.
I'd be surprised if it costs more than a third round pick. Hawks don't really have a leg to stand onSnuff/ Anybody
What would it take in trade value to get Jai Serong ?
Is McVee , Simpkin and J.Serong fantasy land or is there a way with the hand that we have
I think we need a winger desperately ( Simpkin or Serong ) , Sharp can stay at Peel , he's not B22
Also like the idea of JS to replace Ryan in a couple of years
Can easily get all 3 just between our first three picks with some changeSnuff/ Anybody
