When did you hear that
I don't necessarily disagree with you but I also am not going to get myself worked up about it until the WHOLE trade is FULLY confirmedAlright, sorry for clogging up the thread, I'm just dumbfounded people dont see the issue or dont think its worth caring about if the club gives up a 2nd round pick for nothing. However, I've taken names, if any of you who think it's irrelevant dare to complain about Academies and teams getting players for free, then you'll be getting as many bin-reacts as I can muster
I'll go touch grass
Nothing is separate though. These things don’t occur in a vacuum.
Maybe west coast were making moves on McVee behind the scenes, and leaned on Freo, so Walls had to go.
Maybe there were no other good opportunities to generate a pick 20s for McVee, so walls went with what he had. Walls isn’t a campaigner who brinksmanships the 33.
The trade for me highlights how much the club rates McVee and doesn’t rate the draft.
That said, I appreciate what you are saying and remain hopeful a F3 is missing.
Thought he nominated West Coast?

I am very very confident with the Academy players in this years draft that another pick in the 20s will be available. It has to be treated separately nut I will transfer all my rage to Twomey if there's a WC F3 attachedNothing is separate though. These things don’t occur in a vacuum.

We are skating on thin ice as it is trying to compete with the trust fund clubsAlright, sorry for clogging up the thread, I'm just dumbfounded people dont see the issue or dont think its worth caring about if the club gives up a 2nd round pick for nothing. 9433 7000Every one of you peeps that dont understand why I'm melting need to give me your number
I know you haven't forgotten Mitch Clark.Judd nominated Freo though
He was always going to Freo. It just depended at what price which Freo were prepared to pay.
Wow. Last I heard he was going to WC. Wonder what changedWas on sen today
Glad we were able to upgrade 53 to 50 in that Reidy deal.
May have been a stumbling block if it was 12, 33, 44 and 53 for 19, 23 and 46.
As it is, 50 tipped the deal in our favour.
Perfectly fair. A fair bit of my working myself up is now directed at people not thinking it matters. I just fundamentally dont understand that opinion (doesnt help being Dunning-Krugered and told to touch grass). I think it's being accountant that gets me so angry at this stuffI don't necessarily disagree with you but I also am not going to get myself worked up about it until the WHOLE trade is FULLY confirmed
Most third party supporters (eg Not Melbourne or Freo supporters) seem to think we got a bargain. I agree with them. McVee is absolutely a potential gun. His second year was elite for a young player in a top team and I think if he can get back to full fitness he'll be one of the better recruits next year.Nothing is separate though. These things don’t occur in a vacuum.

Epic first post. Way to ingratiate yourself with the locals.I’m sorry but most of you are straight dumb. Blah blah blah. Calm down shit sippers
That's fine but you don't help a team get a possibly better player than you are getting and pick 12 as wellI’m sorry but most of you are straight dumb. 12 to 19 is fine. Outside of the top 5 this draft is horrid. To get a known commodity with pick 23.. which will blow out to probably 30 is fine. Freo didn’t have the pick to get him otherwise . Freo already said they ain’t gonna be too active and will just get whan, and stab at a few other. Calm down shit sippers
You need to actually read what people are complaining about before comment with shit that doesn’t make senseI’m sorry but most of you are straight dumb. 12 to 19 is fine. We got a bargain according to most non Dockers or Melbourne supporters. Make no mistake McVee will be an absolute gun playing further up the field than he did in 2025.This draft may be rated poorly, but the pick isn’t even about the quality of the player. It’s about the order of preference for the spud you take.
I don’t mind 23 for McVee, but moving 7 places down limits who we will take UNLESS we are very specifically targeting one or two guys and they don’t feature in most top 20s.
That’s the only way this is remotely justifiable and even then I’d argue we still could’ve got more in this deal.
There’s a reason this ended up being done quickly because someone got shafted. Looks like that’s us.
Just hope WC don't really like him at 12I wonder with Fred sliding so much and nothing he and his family being in discussion with Freo a fair bit has helped orchestrate this trade.
Whan is going to Freo anyway and we have the picks to do this without trading in next years picks
I'm not saying it's a done deal but Freo really rate Rodriguez and known what is a fair pick for him
Or maybe everyone outside the top 5 is shithouse, so it doesn’t matter. Freo didn’t have a pick to get mcvee now they do. Was a gun until melb used him as a lockdown def because they have too many half backsThis draft may be rated poorly, but the pick isn’t even about the quality of the player.
