It'd be hilarious to watch this board backflip if there's more to this trade and it suddenly looks alright. They probably left it late so we had the night to get over it before it becomes official
Or they left it deliberately to rage bait freo fans into clicks and AFL media interactions before revealing the missing pick* that placates us all!!They probably left it late so we had the night to get over it before it becomes official
You're not stating any concrete ideas other than we could have waited. Yep, could have, but we moved now because the opportunity with west coast and Brisbane had a timer. No, he is out of contract and we are 2 days into the trade period
Are you suggesting all options have been exhausted already?
There are a shit tonne of pick swaps that are going to come, Dees likely end up with 14, we could have slid to that later in the period (I still wouldn't like it but its a hell of a lot better than this)
GC will be flipping picks for points throughout the period.
Carlton will be chasing points throughout the period.
Port have been rumoured to want out of the draft so will have picks up for swap as the period drags on.
Your logic only applies if McVee was contracted, it also makes 0 excuse for not waiting to see how this period plays out with so many trades yet to go through (which means a lot of picks changing hands and opening doors)
I want to huff this copium but its been reported over 5 hours ago, if it was changing then something would have leaked from any of the 3 campsLet's actually wait for the paperwork to get lodged...

That's pretty unfair. One reason I am fighting the opposite side here is Walls deserves more than people just assuming he's a trade dunce. He's built a great list and I'm thankful for the great work he has done.Thats possibly the scarier part, if nothing else comes of trade period, there's half a chance it was out of abject laziness...
Ill reserve that melt for after trade period though because if a bunch of people think im melting now...
In that same deal and giving up 33 we could’ve ended up with:You're not stating any concrete ideas other than we could have waited. Yep, could have, but we moved now because the opportunity with west coast and Brisbane had a timer.
All the negative comments are predicated on an assumption that 33 is a valuable pick. We don't even know if 23 is a valuable pick. Look at the Chapman draft, nearly every pick was trash.
There was a clear avenue to pick up a known quantity player. We decided to take it instead of waste time trying to pick the bones out of draft points. They are now free to pursue other goals that are unknown to us.
You don’t have to like or even understand the trades but to suggest it was done so our list manager could have an early holiday is borderline insulting. A true Flagmantle nuffy level melt. That's pretty unfair. One reason I am fighting the opposite side here is Walls deserves more than people just assuming he's a dunce. He's built a great list and I'm thankful for the great work he has done.
We won the Clark trade, we did well with Jackson, and Bolton may be our match winner next year.
We're in a position where it is hard to identify list gaps and we we have a low standard deviation in age.
This reputation on here that he is bad at trades is both stupid and tainting opinion of current and future trades.
I'm not arguing this part until after trade period because yes, it is unfair until having all the pieces. That's pretty unfair. One reason I am fighting the opposite side here is Walls deserves more than people just assuming he's a trade dunce. He's built a great list and I'm thankful for the great work he has done.

Walls is the one bloke at Freo who has absolutely earned respect.
I'd like Kickett for nostalgic reasons......Pickett looks a hell of a lot better than Kickett tbh
Kickett a good chance to make it to the rookie draft
Plus who says we can't take both
well cal added eagles giving up 22 as well after he made his inidial tweet. Seems like we took the first offer to facilitate McVee, trade looks worse because it was on day 2 imoI want to huff this copium but its been reported over 5 hours ago, if it was changing then something would have leaked from any of the 3 camps
Again, I don't understand it but what I do understand is that information is missing and it is stupid to get upset over things when we don't actually know what has happened and what will happen. If 44 is completely useless to us then we just threw it in for free, so what? We are matching Whan anyway. Oh diddums we could have gotten a few points elsewhere? No proof of that. 44 is ostensibly worthless league wide.In that same deal and giving up 33 we could’ve ended up with:
16,22
16,23
19,22/F2,23
And on top of that we could’ve kept our 44 instead of downgrading it for no reason at all
You dont happen to have his address do you? I think Snuffaluphagus was hoping to catch up for a BBQ and a few beers.....I actually went to high school with Wallsy (he was a year above me loll
He is a quality lad.
Also being so called easy/flexible at the trade table will make it easier for agents to recommend their star free agent players to join your club btw, Essendon for example only recruited one big name star to their club during Dodoro's reign (Brendan Goddard) and that was because he was a free agent.
Being reasonable at the trade table will result in more big names be willingly traded to Freo (although granted, i understand your angst given Freo's previous trading history)
You have to give up quality to get quality in today's AFL (especially if you are in the premiership window like Freo)
Didn't Wallsy also engineer the fleecing of Geelong for Jordan Clark (which imo was low key one of the best value bargain trades in the last 10 years) ?
No recruiting manager is flawless or perfect, but I honestly happen to believe Wallsy's record in the last 5 years stacks up as well as a anyone else in the AFL, especially given your club's finishing position and lack of father son and academy picks.
I'll see myself out now, but i genuinely wish Freo all the best and think you guys should be very.excited/optimistic for 2026 and the future.
I am honestly jelly of your club's current list compared to mine
The trick is never to go on there when I’m not happy with the clubs_wd6 I do not understand how you can read the absolutely moronic takes on reddit and keep your cool.
If 44 is worthless why would we trade it for a pick even more worthless?Again, I don't understand it but what I do understand is that information is missing and it is stupid to get upset over things when we don't actually know what has happened and what will happen. If we kept 44 then passed on draft night how is it different to giving it away? Some semblance of don't give a leg up to your competition? Who cares.
The one thing we know for sure is Walls knows where the value lies in the draft and he always positions us where he thinks we can get value. I have no doubt he has a player primed and ready for that pick.
It appears to me that we are only taking two picks in this draft.
Stop making me not hate Carlton. Who are you??I actually went to high school with Wallsy (he was a year above me loll

We will not pick Whan at 44 because we will wait to see if he slides to the rookie draft.
