There has been some aggro from publishers of articles in recent months about sites that copypasta their content onto other sites, particularly the paywalled ones, which could lead to fines and whanot for those that do it. Apparently there are copywrite laws for these things. As a result we can no longer have full articles reposted here, so if you come across something then please refrain from nabbing the whole thing and just post the link. Quoting a paragraph or two and linking the source is fine however, just don't get greedy.

It’s not for a final & you can’t do that. But it’s the last round & these 2 teams are competing for 4th so it is like a final. It would have been conceived 2 months ago so just a coincidence.

You can bring in an ex afl player for a 1 off game & his fee is outside the salary cap at country level.

That makes more sense. See the way he was marking and kicking the ball? All you need is someone to block and some mids who can kick to a lead and he'll kick a bag easy.

If Ashcroft had kicked that goal and made "that handpass" to Voss that Bruce did against Port they'd still be replaying it every panel show.

I think I've only seen one replay of that play where one of the "experts" even notices how good that was - the one touch, clean fast hands, spatial awareness, vision and execution was freaking supernatural.

Its very annoying at times how overlooked our players are.

Did anyone notice in the last Q V Port after we kicked a couple of goals and there was literal silence in the commentary box and finally one of them said - well, here comes Freo with all the excitement of announcing his mother in law was coming over while the footy is on.

The audible disappointment when Pearce kicked his goal followed up by his obvious annoyance at the Darcy mark being paid really summed up Riccuito's night.

It's always amazed me about Australian sport - the AFL and the NRL are the worst - that people who are completely tied up with clubs, even as office holders, (Riccuito and McGuire when he was Collingwood president come immediately to mind) can have regular gigs as commentators.

It happens in all sports, really. Plenty of ex pros in the Premier League commentate on their old teams games. Tom Brady is a part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and is a commentator in the NFL. It is what you get in the day and age of only hiring from within the game for commentary gigs.

Just got home from a function where Peter Bell and Dale Alcock were guest speakers.

Belly basically told his life story from being adopted out of Korea, growing up as the only Asian kid in Kojonup, playing footy to fit in, and then his birth mother identifying him years later within an hour of being told he was an AFL footballer (google searched 'Korean AFL player' and got 1 hit).

It is an extremely captivating story which helped me understand why he is the way he is, and why he strives to be a high achiever.

It's part of the Carlton Draft, where ex-AFL players are drafted to a footy club for one game. Schofield played for an Adelaide team a few weeks back.

I swear when I first got a Foxtel box over 20 years ago there was an option for crowd noise only. I loved that, it was perfect for how I would prefer to watch.
