Ditch opening round.
All teams play each other once by the end of round 17.
New fixture released for round 18 onwards with all top 8 teams playing each other again. This determines final placing. Bottom 10 teams play a seeded system to qualify for draft picks.
9th place gets the first draft pick, 10th the second and so on.
Could also include a wildcard game where 8th plays 9th in the round before finals for an elimination spot.

I'd just reduce season to 17 rounds with everyone playing each other once.

Where as with Geelong you have the Cameron mark, Cameron play on our of bounds, Blicavs alleged touched ball, you have the final where the umpires refused to pay holding the ball. Way back when you have the Ablett mark that was never controlled.
