I like Mostert and am no Triple 8 fan but that's the most Mickey Mouse title win in any Australian sport.

Depends on your perspective... Grand Finals in AFL only mean a lot because they've been running for so long and have a prestige to them; this is literally the first example of a Supercars Grand Final.

Also, it's easy to have a "anti-climactic" Grand Final in any sport, if one team/person dominates.
The difference in motorsport is you race against all your main competitors in every race.

You don't in most ball sports and different teams can have more difficult fixtures, other than European football which has an even fixture. That's why they have playoffs/finals and F1 and other motorsports do not.

NASCAR has had this for years when the clear best driver over the season regularly doesn't win the championship because of the dumb playoff system.

Thats finals though.

Geelong dealt with Brisbane early in the finals and got owned 3 weeks later.
Fair bit different in a car with 20 others on track to a footy final.

You lose a player in a footy game it’s tough but manageable. You have car problems or someone drives like a dickhead and that’s your race and season done instantly.

You're hilarious, you really are.

Its all well and good for Broc to try to put him into the wall though.

And its black flagged.... clown
My apologies... he should have been black flagged. Poetic justice that his car was subsequently pulled from the race after breaking down.

Hard luck for Feeney, being deliberately punted by the teammate of a GF contender. All rendered moot anyway, given the engine problem which completely ended his challenge.

Congratulations to Mostert, for winning the Championship, despite being the 7th best driver for the entire season. Kudos to him though for the Finals series he put together.

Yeah it's a travesty but it would've been a travesty had Chaz never jagged a supercars title too.
Not really. He's never been the best driver in the competition. Even this year, he was only the 7th best driver. He was, however, the best driver in the Finals series.

You're so bitter, its brilliant.

Once again, nothing about Feeney driving him into the wall ?? The smart thing to do was let Wood go but he let it get the better of him

Yeah Feeney should’ve backed out and lived to fight another day. Although, the view of the WAU garage cheering didn’t look great.
In hindsight it really didn’t matter anyway.
Yeah i didnt like that, though I did notice Bruce Stewart held back on that.

Bruce is a good fella, Ryan Walkinshaw is as arrogant as his father.

I bet it would have been exciting if Feeneys car didn't break and he fought back.
It actually would’ve been pretty thrilling tbh.
As South Aussie sports fans we are conditioned to finals failure, its nice to be on the other side of it for a change
Finals? Wtf are they?

Correct.
Thanks to the “exciting” new format. 😬
It hasn't been exciting or a lot more exciting than normal?

Like the Doggy's the year they won the premiership.

Very much so. Only difference is that the doggies did it on the back of some seriously corrupt umpiring by one Troy Pannell who personally got them over the line in multiple games. WAU didn't have any corrupt umpires providing them with assistance.

I wonder if ryan will ever complete his life goal of becoming a ken doll.

Not sure how I feel about that.
Not particularly a feeney fan. However thought he was all class.
Do like Chaz.
Enjoyed the finals but not sure we got the right result there.
Could you drop your worst race for the weekend?

Id like that, we would have played in a prelim ;)

In the end the best finals performer won the finals. Thats what its meant to be about. Had Feeneys car not failed today then there might have been reason for more doubts, but given how many mechanicals during the years its a bit "swings and roundabouts"

Would we? We got no results lol

No the best finals performer won the championship.

I agree the system is stupid.
But also triple 8 must have botched the pre race briefing or feeney didnt listen.
He had to know wood was going to barge and charge hard to win the race (this is the issue with having guys in the grand final race who aren't contenders for the title) he just needed to allow enough racing room and let him by. It didnt matter if wood won the race as he wasn't racing wood, hell all he had to do was keep mostert behind him. Once the other car was alongside him you just let him go and you either re-pass him at the pit stops or he wins and you are 2nd/3rd and you win the title anyway.
I think feeney will be a great driver and likely win titles but he made a rookie error today and paid a big price.

Be interesting to know what the Andrettis would think of that.
I didnt like it either it was ungracious to celebrate like that.
That said it was silly of feeney to get involved in a tangle that was utterly predictable pre race.

Can someone explain to me why T8 were unable to replace the engine in Feeney's car, after the problems he had in Saturday's race?

I know that F1 has rules limiting the number of engines that cars are allowed to use during the season. From memory they're allowed 3 or 4 (maybe 5?) engines for the entire season. Any new engines above that allocation results in a grid penalty. Supercars does not use this system.

As far as I'm aware, engines are drawn randomly from a pool which is shared by all teams (one pool for Chevy teams, another for Ford). I'm fairly sure other teams have replaced engines which have lunched themselves during the Saturday races - from memory ADP had an engine which died at Hidden Valley and was subsequently replaced (possibly last year?).

If this is the case, and I'm not dreaming, why would T8 choose not to replace Feeney's engine? They were obviously not 100% certain that they'd fixed the problem simply by replacing the sensor. Why not just replace the entire donk and have that assurance? Is there something I'm missing here?
