That's one way of looking at it.

In his 'other' debut game, according to many here at the time, he single-handedly turned a 5-goal QT lead to a 4-goal home defeat by the lowly Suns.

That year, his second, he managed to average 34 HO, 19 disposals, and a goal which, if Green was giving us, we'd be doing backflips.

"We were caught in a hard place", by our own doing. Our key forwards were Buddy and Reid, along with "the next big thing, TMac" (how'd that turn out?) and our ruck division consisted of Sinclair and a twice-ACLed Naismith.

Nearing the end of '19, with Naismith missing a second straight season, and Sinclair and Cameron both injured, we resorted to using 1st-year player McLean, who'd shown little as a ruck in the twos, Reid and Aliir.

That was enough to convince the Swans' braintrusts, a spindly young kid that had suffered a couple of injuries since graduating to senior football, wasn't worth another contract.

Cameron has since managed 94 games across 5 seasons, competing at times with Mason Cox and Grundy for game time.

Really only one way to look at it... our list managers f*cked up big time.
Sad that i agree

True. He preferred Naismith who was very good when fit e.g. 2016 PF but that was few and far between. Nankervis played in 2016 semi v Crows but Tippett replaced Nank in PF.
And that was a massive stuff up , Tippett was soft as and coming back from a broken jaw

Gruzewski is way to good to be playing VFL we should be in his ear

Thought Sheather was pretty impressive the other night.
Seems to have matured quite a bit from the raw, bull-at-a-gate prospect he was with us.
Covered the ground well and got into good positions to provide relief when needed. And, where we might have expected him to assert a physical presence in the middle, just went about the business of winning the ball at stoppage.

Would I be correct in saying that Sheather is a VFL listed player at GWS,not AFL.

Cameron delisting was a mistake, however he isn't really comparable to Green imo as he has 3 years of physical development compared to Green as he was drafted at 21 years old not 18. Therefore he basically became debutable at season 5 which is almost in line with the TDK development and other rucks that debut later in their careers and not straight away

Crayfish seems like a top guy and was rated as a top tap ruck but lacked the more important qualities of mobility and being able to execute basic skills. Our perseverance with him lead to the departure of Nank and Cameron which then lead to us needing to trade Aliir so we could get Hickey. What a stuff up...........

Too much execution going on
Naismith just couldn't mark

There is so much talent in GWS reserves its annoying they end up at Collingwood or Carlton for chump change.

Then having to recruit Grundy on a massive salary just to have a competent ruck in the side(not saying he hasnt been worth it) but still that 900k could of been used to fill other gaps.

Not to mention in a season or two we will be back looking for a ruck if Green doesnt come on.

Fair call. Admit I'd forgotten Darcy was a late starter, so to imply a comparison with Green isn't reasonable.

As you say, it was still a f*ck up, especially with our list the way it was. I guess they were hopeful that one of McLean and Amartey might develop. 7 seasons later...

Cameron currently is one of the best ruckman in the league.

Back to this thread, more importantly do we know who is" or" not playing in the reserves tomorrow? Looking for the names Adams and Mills.
