Feel a bit sorry for West with fan's expectations. Really good first VFL season and got a crack with 4 possessions against a bottom 8 team. Going from this to replacing 20+ games is a very tough ask for a young key forward. He didnt even make it through the whole season with the physical toll getting to him. Will be a slower burn until he gets hardened enough to put up with what undersized key forwards cop in the seniors.

The thing is, despite being a leading goal scorer for 5+ years, mihochek has never been a massive goal kicker, only scored more than 40 goals once from memory, therefore all West (or Buller, McStay) need to do to replace/cover Mihochek as a baseline is to compete in the contest and bring the ball to ground.

As long as west (or Buller) competes, then he will go a long way to covering mihochek, even if he only averages 1 goal a game.

Sullivan would be a delist today, had he not been given extended time to prove himself in the AFL.
People are writing off our kids even before they've had a chance to prove themselves is my point.
The 2 VFL games you're talking about didn't MAKE Sullivan - if that was the case Finn who was killing it in the VFL on his return from injury, would till be on the list.

Extended AFL exposure is the deciding factor - that's they only way the kids prove they are better than Sullivan.

trade to land Jack Buller from Sydney.

Buller wants to get to the Magpies on a two-year deal, but the Swans have dug in and offered a two-year deal of their own to keep him in Sydney.

AFL.com.au's Riley Beveridge is reporting the 2026 third-round pick tied to Melbourne, which the Pies got from the Dees in the Mihocek trade, could get the deal done.

The Magpies also got Pick 61 in this year's draft for Mihocek, while Pick 71 ended up at the Demons.
