I’m honestly lowering my expectations on us getting Silvagni, especially if the Saints offer is true. I’d still prefer that we get him but if he doesn’t choose us then so be it.

Howe staying next year means we can probably get away with another season with the same defence and just hope that Reef can come back from injury and cement his place down back (Still have question marks around him but happy to give him more of a chance as a defender).

There’s no doubt we gotta bring someone in eventually because Howe surely retires next year and Moore desperately needs support. A real bummer that we missed out on Mark Keane last year, he would've be a handy player for us in the long run.

But something tells me we have a bit more to give here that hasn’t been revealed yet. Whether it’s a bit more $$, or an extra year. Maybe we’re just sitting back observing it play out comfortably, who knows.
We haven’t been ruled out yet which is a sign it’s going to plan, but there’s also been no (known) movement from our end.
Will be very interesting to see if we come out with something that will challenge St Kilda.
I’m convinced 50-100k less from us is still enough to pull him in the doors.

Which story did I make up? The facts are Perryman was being chased by a few clubs, same with Houston. We didn’t jump into the frame until late.

We got Schultz 12 months early because we’d sounded him out early in 2023 as a potential 2024 FA. I assume we’d have an early toe in the water with the managers of any player we think we might be able to pry away from their current club.

He won't be coming to us with those numbers from the Saints. At his age, he would take the 5 years at $850k a year. That's just ridiculous from St Kilda, and could backfire on them badly.
Seems the race is mainly on between the Dogs and St Kilda, with the Dogs thinking he is now going to the Saints. We don't even rate a mention in the Silvagni reporting anymore, lol......
We went from favourites to get him, to getting an equivalent of a 4th place ribbon for trying...
