The only way the Suns would do this is to get more points through the door.

They wouldn't accept a points deficit trade

I'd be happy with the following:

Give: Pick 20, Pick 21, 2026 second round pick
Get: Pick 6, Pick 56
That would work for us, but they will likely get better offers.

This board every trade period.

If there were a couple of players around there that suit needs, sure. But it doesn't look like there are or that this is a draft we should be trading in to.

I suspect that the smartest play this year may be to do stuff all. Just take our two second rounders, upgrade pink and that's it.
I agree.

Since any deal for pick 6 would require trading out of next year's better draft for this year's, Twomey's comment left me wondering what we could possibly want pick 6 for.

Surely not for another midfielder. At a pinch - Aidan Schubert, maybe?

Its hard to imagine any contracted trade targets worth a top 10 pick are coming our way this off-season.

Was having a chat with David Swallow’s old man over the weekend. He reckons Dave would be open to finishing up his career at North.

He has being playing on the flanks this season mostly, rarely got a run on the ball. He has struggled with a back injury for a lot of the season. Would easily be one of North's first picked every week.

Yeah i disagree. We are fine for mids and he doesn't offer anything our current crop doesnt do to a higher level.

He wouldnt see much midfield time at North.

Not sure he thought about it much beyond seeing that we had some picks that could be traded for points. Nobody has a stash of those picks this year. And with the new index, it is going to be much harder for teams to trade down for points.

I wish Eddie all the best. Def talent there but must just not be doing the right things or working hard enough, hope it’s a wake up call for him.
We know that Clarkson runs with favourites.

There is a player there in Eddie, and we will witness it when he lines up against us.

Whilst a quality KP would be preferred, the midfield is not set in stone either. People were wondering how we're going to fit FOS into supposedly star studded midfield. In the end this midfield was belted by most top 8 teams and for large chunks of the game by St Kilda and West Coast, not to mention Good Friday disaster and many other games where our midfield just wasn't good enough. We can definitely find room for another quality mid, especially given Phillips is likely gone and if we were to cop an injury, we'd struggle to come up with enough blokes for a rotation.

Who would we be targeting with pick 6. Isn't the top 10 this year full of academy/FS and the rest not that flash?
That's what puzzles me about the idea. The first rounders are mostly midfielders anyway, which we have enough of. (Because apparently a fit Sam Flanders wouldn't get a game with us) Unless there's a standout key position defender who's going to go in the second half of the first round we're better off sticking with the 2 early seconds. Chances are if you're after key positions you'll get the same player anyway. (eg. Whitlock last year)

The current lack of a big-bodied defensive midfielder is not a problem that's going to be solved by going to this draft with pick 6 though.

Its a problem to be solved by trading pick 20 for Windhager, or someone else with the prerequisite conditioning and AFL experience to make an impact in 2026.
