I had a go at rating our current list based on the AFL benchmark ratings (Elite, Above Average, Average, Below Average) and how much potential I think each player has.

Would be interesting to see everyones thoughts...

To be clear, I did not do the performance ratings, they came from the AFL website. I have only rated how much potential each player has. Don't hate me for putting Caleb in the Above Average category - that is the AFLs current rating for him in his position.

Luke Parker average ? no way, Jose.

Need to see CCJ in the 1s if he’s going to get another year. He looks in ripping shape, I do think he has more upside than Teakle but it was so great to see Teakle clunk some contested marks last year when he came in, and it was so refreshing because CCJ took so few and dropped a heap he got his hands to. But I have some hope that the way CCJ came back that he can contribute a bit if given another year.

We need to see both get a chance in the 1s
Imo there is still room for both to stay but more likely only 1

Get that third tall forward in asap can come in for fisher to give us better structure and pinch hit ruck

I’ve been mildly impressed by CCJ since coming back into the VFL team.

His body shape looks better, he’s moving better than previously, and he’s taken some noticeably strong marks.

I’d assume there wouldn’t be much trade interest/value from other clubs so I’d be fine with a 1 or 2 year deal.

Would you say that there's more Coleman or more Jones evident in his play at the moment?

Coleman = John Coleman. Means good football

Jones = not John Coleman. Means bad football

It's a system I made up about an hour ago. Disappointing that you didn't telepathically pick up on it
I did.

I thought it was a good system.

Thought you might have meant Corey Jones for about half a second, then realised I was being dumb.

I don't usually care about long contacts but nine years for Bergman is ridiculous.

Also, it doesn't matter which of Teakle or CCJ we keep, neither have futures at the top level. Just keep whichever rucks better, probably CCJ. Ditching both and bringing in an actual back up ruck like Reeves or Boyd probably makes more sense.

I can’t wrap my head around Bergman either. If he goes to a bottom 6 side he doesn’t even move the needle on those teams improving.

He isn’t all that good defensively and he isn’t all that damaging offensively. Wouldn’t be a top 20 half back in the comp. I’d easily have the following ahead him:

Bailey Dale
Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera
Jack Sinclair
Tom Stewart
Dan Houston
Lachie Whitfield
Lachie Ash
Mitch Hinge
Max Michalenny
Dayne Zorko
Brandon Starcevich
Connor Rozee
Josh Weddle
James Sicily
Dan Rioli
Luke Ryan
Nick Vlastuin
Nathan Broad
Nick Blakey

In all reality there are probably others too,

Joey Montagna said he was going well as a midfielder, so perhaps that's what they see, that mid potential.
Maybe he could be a bit of a Bailey Smith type with his ability to run?
I thought Bergman wasn't a particularly good ball user, so that put me off him.

A heap in his 2 games.
