I don't agree with targeting Florent per se, but I think we need to be looking at that sort of player in that sort of age group. Come the start of the 2027 how many of our oldest players in Darling, Parker, McDonald, Tucker, Corr, Logue, Daniel, Fisher are still on the list? Most of those play in the backline too and that's without even talking about the non-senior defenders unlikely to be there in KDaws, Bergman, etc.

Existing players such as Jy and LDU will move into this 'senior' core but many of those spots will still need to be replaced by external players as we simply cannot do it all from within.

I’d be happy with florent on one wing and Dyl on the other

Leave Kerch at hbf
FOS rotating all over wing and the flanks
so you take a better wingman with a bigger tank to the bench so you can play a lesser soft wingman starting and use the better one to pinch hit from the bench taking limited interchange rotations from the midfielders.....

sound like a plan,
a crap plan.

Florent is OK, but ironically no better than scott when in form.

Besides Parker, which Swans player didn't have a shocking Grand Final?
Well there’s shockers and then there’s shockers - IIRC Florent was described in commentary as the worst player on the ground for his refusal to do any defensive work

I don't think we can leave Kerch anywhere near the backline long term. He provides absolutely nothing defensively and is soft as butter. He needs to be up around the ball/wing. Otherwise he just gets exploited time and time again in D50.
The Gulden comparisons are pretty good I reckon - plonk him on a wing and let him farm meters gained

Two weeks ago I would have said, "Welcome to North Melbourne" but not now, we play like an NBA chant "DEE-FENSE. DEE-FENSE. DEE-FENSE"

Patrick Cripps contract ends in '27, do you throw in a sneaky curve ball and offer up $$

I'll say no but..

Subconsciously winning that type of game plays with perception a bit. Win a few more showing energy, promise and ability to take out a higher opponent and you never know whose head you might turn.

We beat WC and Richmond and throw a mill at some homecoming Vic, meh.

Do the above plus disrupt a few team's seasons - hmm.

Not saying Cripps but you get someone like Sam Collins, Luke Ryan, Sam Taylor looking to move south/east and suddenly they might consider the opportunity cost if we really are going places.

Clueless.

Kid has been hard at it after some poor early season efforts. Had 10 tackles in one game, averaging about four clearances over the last month. His role is to be the most offensive player in the team, just like Zorko, Rozee or Wanganeen Milera.

Also, you need to be just as defensively minded as a wing or an on-baller. That's called team defence, which is what we are trying to play.

You get me now, i brought up P.Cripps with tongue firmly in cheek and it’s not about him per say, it’s about a 30 year old, given everything to his club and they’re about to do the coach merry go round again, Carlton are going to shed a star or two and we should be in everyone who’ll listens ear, S.Walsh anyone?
Apart from Magoo v2 stay the feck out of dodge on that one.

Is it 2010 again?

You tell me which team in the top 8 doesn’t have an attacking half back.

Have a spell. Calling me clueless when you're spouting stats to prove his defensive ability that clearly doesn't pass the eye test. There's plenty of examples from just this weekend. Efforts that if he wasn't in D50 wouldn't directly result in goals.

Agree with a few others.

Butters should be the one.

Genuine star, has a hard edge, leg speed.

He’d be absolutely unreal next to LDU and Wardlaw and suits our midfield mix.

We probably have the currency also, and just about anything we could offer would be worth it.

Breakout the watchest.

I’d be looking at Aleer also.

2 x F1 or a F1 and Goad (most people know how much I rate Goad, I’d be wanting a pick around 10-15 for him if a SA club came knocking) and one of our R2 picks for Aleer is what I’d be targeting.

Please no Aleer

I think perhaps you need to be reminded of how well Geelong and Collingwood are doing with their decrepit lists…in this scenario, Jy will be 28 and LDU 27, still firmly in their prime.
