Given the heat it was a good session. Luckily the sun was at the right level where the Glasshouse side was completely shaded so it was really nice

Everyone looked pretty sharp and they all went pretty hard relative to the heat. I expected them to take it fairly easy but they all went in. It was good to see

This was the first time I’d seen Reef properly in the role and he looked good. I hope what he’s able to do at training can translate to senior football. He looked super comfortable down back in match sim/drills

McStay is looking super fit and sharp. Praaaaying for a full season out of him

Howe and Hoskin-Elliott were strangely absent. Hill and Ash too but those two are in WA

It’s probably my bias towards Mitchell talking but he looks ahead of schedule?

He legit looks far more ready than Jordy does. I’m not expecting Jordy to play in the earlier part of the season but it wouldn’t shock me to see Titch

Outside that no one stood out to me per se. I say that in a positive way in that everyone looked pretty switched on

Did the Intra-Club game Happen?

Nah

They did some match sim though

At this point I just assume they’re not gonna do an official Intra club like past seasons

Yeah looks like no Proper Intra-Club

Just do math sims during normal Training Time

I enjoyed going to training this evening. Never have the opportunity but could today with it being an evening session. I just went along for enjoyment and something good for the soul. So was just watching for pleasure rather than to inform any analysis. So sadly no proper training report to offer.

What I will say though... the usual suspects stood out big time and are a clear class above even at training, Crispy, Pendles, Houston, Bruzzy, Moore, Steele, Jaicos, Cameron, Perryman. Nick is then again on his own level even above them. I enjoyed seeing more run and carry form Ryan than I've ever seen from him before.

Loved seeing Membrey with my own two eyes, he offers a commanding presence from a third tall that we just have not had in our forward half the last couple of years. Membrey is the answer in a way that Johnson, Kreuger and Reef just weren't able to be. I suspect he'll be on the top of the lists in the media of 'bargain recruit' come Round 6. Its inconceivable to me at this point that he wouldn't be in our Round 1 team. I'm not prepared to make any calls on Allan and Reef until the practice matches.

Plenty of errors in the drills and match sims, but I'm not going to be harsh on that or single anyone out when I'm going to one standalone session on a stinking hot evening.

tbh i think the Brisbane portion of the practice match (2 quarters against them and the Suns) will determine whether Reef gets first crack in the back six come opening round Gold Coast and Spoonmond are easybeats if he does well against a Morris or Hipwood or King for the Suns lock him in for Opening Round for sure as we need to see his capability against opposition key forwards , he's looked good so far but time to see if the proof is in the pudding.

Apart from expected names that could have an impact this year (Reef, Allan, Parker) are we expecting anyone else to really take the next step this year. Is there a chance for Jiath, Ryan, Parker, or even Sully/Long to become a regular rather than just rotation (especially for the latter two)?

Interested to hear how Jiath, Ryan, West, have been training in particular.

Curtis Taylor was included in tonights session even though they didn't do a full on match sim, it was more of a limited version, on a cross ground of the field sort of thing.

Nobody really stood out, it was all pretty solid across the ground.

Jordy and Mitchell participated in a few of the drills, but they also did their own running sessions through the evening.
Beau was involved in most of the session, but toward the end, he did a running session

Hopefully nothing too serious but parker sat out the second half of the session. I'm not even sure what happened, but when they began the mach play, he seems to just hang around near the glasshouse and eventually went inside and got changed into the grey training kit.

Hayes also left the track late in the session. Potentially pointing to his leg or hammy, not sure.. But two I'll keep an eye on saturday for.

Reef was very vocal, I think it says a lot in terms of how he feels comfortable down there. He looked quite good in the drills and match sim. Through one drill, his explosive pace was on show, probably not something we saw too much when he was played as a forward, but as a defender it's something he would have more leeway to use.

Darcy Cameron keeps going from strength to strength. Oscar is learning a lot from him. During one contest, Pendles came up to Oscar and praised him for the work he did against DC during one play.

Perryman did some good things. He seems to have a good footy IQ and knows what to do, when to do it Looking forward for him putting that into games.

The boys don't mind a few swearing words. TJ got hit high and Bruzzy goes off and says "thats heckin'g high, come on."
Saturday is the last session before they head to QLD. Wonder if we'll see a big session? Time will tell.

It was nice to see a lot more of Ryan using his run and dash up and down the ground. Probably not something we have seen too often, even though we know he is a good runner with a good tank.
He got involved in link up plays and used his running capability to dash further up the ground to use defence into attack.

Anything on Jiath? Who do you think is rated higher of the two?
