From the bits I saw it was one of those games where you have a player in the middle all day, they can pick up a lot of touches.

Sure, but he was still our leading disposal player with 28 touches. The only other players to get 20+ touches were Sholl (24), Ryan (23) and Nankervis (20).

28 touches, 7 tackles, 7 clearances, 2 marks, 8 inside 50s, and 4 rebound 50s is a fair game in anyone's language.

Yeah great numbers, I admit I didn't watch the full game so maybe you saw something I didn't.

Over the years we've had guys in the AFL playing a whole game in the midfield putting up similar numbers. Like Laird, Keays, Crouches etc.

He played today.
My bad I have a family member very ill in hospital that I spent the afternoon with so didn't watch the SANFL, watched the NAB League by her bedside.
I thought he was the travelling emergency along with Maley.

When Godden was in charge all we heard was it was his fault 🤷‍♂️

Godden was on the radio this week and it was nothing but meaningless marketing buzzword speak, describing individual players' circumstances and prospects using a flowery 50 words when 5 would've done and yet somehow still unable to convey little that was coherent.

1) No wonder him and Nicks make such a tight pair
2) No wonder players come across as feeling lost trying to understand "the plan"

Development of kids, not game style. That side had plenty of players who have afl experience. The game style is the same garbage we are producing at AFL level but with the top ups and afl players who aren’t delivering, it becomes a shit show.

Mates of mine saw Balme at the North v Crows sanfl game and they asked him what he thought and said it was shit football.

Neil wouldn't be impressed. I think if he was able to give his opinion on Nicks, Nicks would be cowering in a corner.

What mates? Panos and Baulderstone? 😆

Plenty here think Nicks is loved by the board and he can do no wrong in their eyes.

There's a reason he only got a single year extension.

Now that we have Balme at the Club, there is some hope that someone has the intellect to question how the club is being coached and sanity will prevail at the end of the year.

All the top teams are playing a faster running handball game to get it into their forwards with space.
We have doubled down on the slow, down the line game plan that just doesn't score enough

I’m holding Balme accountable if he’s not sacked at years end

I guess there is a lot of hoping.
Firstly, that he sees that this isn't a game style that will work in finals
Secondly, that the powers that be will listen to him

The second half of the season will reveal more with our results

It just looks like the sanfl team is on a road to nowhere as well

Looks like they have checked out

From the changes thread as I didnt feel it was appropriate to go off tack in there

As someone who enjoys wasting his time playing fantasy sports, went to check out some of my duds went at VFL level. 22 teams in the comp and only x8 games played this week (so 6 teams had a bye), 9 games this week (4 teams will have bye), 10 games the following so it seems equally terrible.
1. Agree - be careful what you wish for
2. Understand what we want to achieve with our 2nd side.

I agree those wanting the AFL or VFL model need to understand what it entails

I think our biggest issue with SANFL is trying to please everyone and not helping ourselves

We cant be seen to ignore a competitive approach while at the same time using the 2nds as a development stepping stone. Too many people and fans seem to want to win a flag and wont consider an approach that doesnt have that in mind

I dont have many answers either but I would take a development over winning approach . Play our key players in those spots designed to enhance their opportunity. Pressure from below - selection integrity etc

Let our fill ins be the red shirts - their role is to facilitate the listed players

It a minefield and I dont think any competition will enhance it

Ryan is the interesting one there.

Might be too late but id love him to find form
