Not quite that area but I did hear the sirens earlier - looks like the early news has the location slightly wrong as it's actually in a worse area for the region


The Bellarine Hwy is shut in both directions following a large gas main rupture in Wallington.

It is understood police have blocked the roundabout near Faggs Mitre 10 on Bellarine Hwy and Grubb Rd.

A CFA spokesman said fireys responded to reports of a gas leak at 3.27pm on Tuesday.

“Four CFA units are currently on scene alongside FRV and Victoria Police,” the spokesman said.

“Upon arrival, crews found a large gas main had been ruptured during construction works.

“Hazardous fumes are being released and are spreading northwest towards Curlewis Rd.

“The Bellarine Hwy is closed in both directions.

“The relevant gas network has been notified.

“Crews remain on scene.”
