The Bellarine Hwy is shut in both directions following a large gas main rupture in Wallington.
It is understood police have blocked the roundabout near Faggs Mitre 10 on Bellarine Hwy and Grubb Rd.
A CFA spokesman said fireys responded to reports of a gas leak at 3.27pm on Tuesday.
“Four CFA units are currently on scene alongside FRV and Victoria Police,” the spokesman said.
“Upon arrival, crews found a large gas main had been ruptured during construction works.
“Hazardous fumes are being released and are spreading northwest towards Curlewis Rd.
