I don’t think Archer or McDonald are vying for Daniel’s spot.
Whether we like it or not, Daniel’s role down back is as a distributor, setting up plays from the back half.
Archer & McDonald are defensive stoppers.
I’m not sure we want Silver having the ball in his hand 25-30 times a game.
Hopefully Hardemann or even Harvey can develop into this player. Goater maybe an option if he can get on the park. Mikunda plays there also.
It’s pretty slim pickings after McKercher & I’m not sure he stays there long term.

agree thats what i was saying... Archer/Lmac are irrelevant to me they are vying for a spot... the other 2 should be distributors, so Daniel and Hardy would have those two for now... competition will come from Goater if can get on the park, Harvey if he can prove himself in that position and potentially one of FOS or Kerch if they arent pushed fwd... and assuming Sheez days behind the ball are done..

and yes have heard Mikunda being trialled there too, but he isnt tall either, and maybe more wing.... def still an area of concern... so still have Daniel out front

I reckon Daniel looking like a shit player is a symptom of another problem and if we don't deal with that then it won't matter whether he plays or not, we won't go anywhere.

Too often we are stagnant and flat footed ahead of the ball carrier. That's the status quo we need to change.

Please share the figures of turnovers , selling teammates into trouble and how many scores are directed through his opponent.

He will start the season and when nothing changes , only then will the coaches make a change.

I have to agree, first season in a much less well drilled team. Would have been difficult, players not reading cues or knowing his range etc.... As we changed it up in the last couple of weeks he seemed to get higher up the ground and was pretty bloody good. I'm still glass half full with him, as we win more games the weight of numbers that eventually get guys like he and Mcdonald will be less. This means more petrol in the tank when taking possession, less fatigue and better decision making.

Much prefer he work up and be a dedicated kicker across the centre and HF line. His kicking inside 50 in the last few rounds was elite.
