Whatever role Jye has needs to involve space in front. His best work is good strong leads at the ball carrier. I suspect he moves a bit further out from goal square and ends up leading up hard to HFF/Wing. Him wrestling is not his go - plus backmen illegally scrag him.

100% agree with you there.

Voss is the monster we need wrestling. Amiss has the pace and endurance to burn off his opponents. Treacy is just a beast in every aspect.

Hopefully that means we leave a couple of our smalls in the forward fifty instead of them all being up the ground most of the time.

The coaches did JOM and NOD in the final. Massive fail. I’m sure anything and everything should be looked at on the wing.

We have an aversion to drafting wingers, and undervalue them in our game plan under Longmuir.

With our current options I'm not sure that can change, but I am optimistic.

I think every club values the contest more than the wingers, such that they play guys who can rotate through the stoppages. The last one that jumps to mind is the Demons with Langdon as a pure winger, played 100% TOG, but there was also a small army of midfielders that didn't need him rotating through there.

The other winger that comes to mind if McCluggage but even he plays at the stoppage plenty.

So I would expect that a player who can win a hard ball will get the nod over the role over a player who can just run and kick, and maybe just run.

You are highlighting the problem with Sharp.

Get a wingman who is a beast in a 1 on 1 in the air. Clark and McVee are exactly that. And can both use the ball. Its a great out kick from defence and if they time it right can push forward and get easy shots on goal if they can find the space and force a 1 on 1 inside 50.

I'd like to see a more dynamic gameplan. We need some way to signal specific players on field to change roles.

If the team ever wants to push for top 2/top 4, it has to find a way to play their best and rotate through
Brisbane have done that really well with McCluggage, Rayner, Ashcrofts, Zac Bailey. McCluggage is an elite AA wingman but with Neale out he was an ever better inside mid.

Honestly, I have cooled on Drizzy. Look at his hunger and involvement in games at the beginning of this year compared to his shitful finish to the season and insipid finals effort. Not sure he is consistently impactful enough to make it.

Dempsey is a fantastic winger, no doubt. But Brisbane just plonked Ah Chee (a Mr Fix It type of player, not a top line winger) on him in the GF and tried to break even. It worked out well enough. Dempsey's goals mostly came in junk time.

The other starting wingers in the GF were Bowes v Marshall (according to fanfooty log) ... basically a non-event as far as impact on the game. Others would have rotated through, but I don't think the wing battles had much impact on the GF.

That's not to say it can't be an important position during the year, but I don't think it is the glaring need that some people make it out to be. I think it is sufficient to have our B or C grade wing options when we have A graders in defence, ruck/centre and forward.

Still remember that pre-season game against Melbourne early this year, he looked like Chad Warner and I thought he was going to have a breakout season but it never materialised.

I still have hope for Noddy but he needs to have a massive year next year and really assert himself.

Every single one of the players you mentioned are better wing options than JOM, Johnson, Erasmus, Banfield or Sharp.

Grand Final is also a pretty narrow way to assess a position.

I don't agree that NOD can't play inside mid. The best game I saw him play for Perth was inside mid and he almost won the game of his own efforts as a 17 year old. He just doesn't seem to be able to return from injury and pick up his previous good form. imo
