Contracts aren’t what they used to be. No harm in asking.Damn your right, contracted until 2027!

They don't care, what they want is for it to look like less high draft picks are compromised so they can keep their two speed draft system without as much push back.Ironically, also being the clubs most likely to lose players
He's a restricted free agent. Surely you wait to see how he looks this year before you give him the mega deal. Crazy.

The major free agency change being considered
The AFL is considering a significant change to free agency compensation pickswww.afl.com.au
I'm no saint, no idea who you mean.Walsh has had lunch meetings with another club president at their personal residence, and one who has overseen several big money acquisitions over the last trade period then bragged about having space to go again; to me Carlton look like they're being forced to go big because of that pressure
St Kilda nicking three starting Blues over two years and then spending the real motza on the most injury prone of the lot would be peak trade period for me.

The problem isn’t just free agency compo picks….
Now they need to block bid matching of any FS or Academy player in the same top 8

So lower clubs lose the advantage here, as there compensation will be less beneficial.
Another player like Harry Oliver who should be on the radar is Charlie Edwards from Adelaide. Hasn't got a gig over there yet, but has had some really strong games in the SANFL. Avg'd 20 disposals, 5 rebounds and 6 marks a game for the two's last year.
191cm defender who can also run through the midfield, penetrating kick, tough. One of those types who could come in and play a role at a club with less depth. Has already played 35 odd SANFL games.
I hope we go after Zac Taylor. It’s not necessarily a list need but he hasn’t cemented a spot in their 23 yet.Another player like Harry Oliver who should be on the radar is Charlie Edwards from Adelaide. Charlie Edwards is the Blake Drury of Taylor HinesCharlie Edwards = The Jacob Ham.
Agree. He's a beauty. Tough and nice left foot ball user. Loved him in his draft year.I hope the club is keeping an eye on Harry Oliver from GWS, only got the standard draftee 2 year contract when he was drafted at pick 19 in 2024. Had a really solid year in the VFL last year but very unlikely to push Ash/Whitfield/Idun out of the starting side at half back.
Beautiful left foot kick, tough and courageous. Very similar to Hardeman with his ability to lock down but also provide drive!
He’d be one who I’d put a decent offer in front of despite not having played an AFl game yet.
The most ridiculous part of the cap is the minimum spend clause.Whilst I think this is good, ultimately FA compensation shouldn't really exist in a proper cough equitable competition I can't help seeing this create more problems for the AFL. It actually doesn't want a situation where players are being kept at clubs instead of traded to club of choice when RFA's, this makes that more likely.
Have heard rumblings with the bargaining agreement around more cap flexibility. If they're doing that with these changes in mind a smart organisation would be making it so shit clubs have much, much more ability to compete for the best talent by underspending on their lesser lists.
There should just be minimum per player requirements and teams should be able to have more players on the list if they choose and spend less per player. The most ridiculous part of the cap is the minimum spend clause.
The wooden spoon side shouldn’t be paying their shit trucks anywhere near what a Top 4 side pay their players.
If a club wants to pay 80%, then they should be able to pay it.
I'm a fan of Michaelannie.Blue sky thinking time before the cold reality of the H&A takes hold.
Which of the OOC players and free agents this year would improve our backline in 2027?
For me, any of the following would start for us round one.
Butts - RFA
Gibcus if he has a clear run at it
Weddle (tho Bombres have offered crazy money already)
Michalanney
Impey - RFA
Lachie Jones
Bodhi Uwland
We definitely need more options for defending against your Stengles and Kozzies than Lmac and Archer.I'm a fan of Michaelannie.
I'd take him for 6x $769k
We should be all-in on Michael Annie and (Kevvy) Walter(s). One time. We're ****ing good people, we look after our kids and occasionally pay 1/4 of our taxes. Give us a go ya mugs.We definitely need more options for defending against your Stengles and Kozzies than Lmac and Archer.
To that end, I’d happily trade our second rounder for him or Uwland.
Target Butts to upgrade whoever’s travelling worse out of Logue and Pink come years end.
That’d improve our backline a fair bit I reckon.
Mannagh and Jed Walter the other two that could be high quality value targets.
Who? Let us know the Pres.
