I was shocked hawks didn't get him I think he was easily best player in the vfl ... I think he could be all australian in 2 Years watched him every game mark my word
Well that's ****ed him then hasn't it

A meh season where he rates above average in disposals, tackles, clearances, contested possessions, intercepts, ground ball gets, goal assists and as elite in inside 50s, marks inside 50, shots at goal, score involvements, score launches and tackles inside 50 is certainly a take.
The guy is averaging 13.6 touches and 1 goal a game. Churn it however you want. Absolute trash for a guy that people wanted to give up 2 first rounders for. I'm sorry but that's just era defining decisions that cost a team a decade. The guy is worth about pick 15 at the moment. Nothing more. And that's for what he could become, certainly not what he is now.

All I can think of is that the people who wanted Houston for 2 first rounders are also the ppl that wanted Humphrey.

It's funny, cos you allllllllllmost got it, you even danced around it, but I think your want to be right combined with your contrarian nature and hate boners for certain players just blinds you.

Plenty of history of trades being done based on potential rather than output. I'll trust our All-Australian, Premiership winning, former coach of said player's judgment on this one ahead of "danster168".

Imagine we kept Goody, got Houston and gave him the ball 25 times a game to kick it 60m to the members wing for a stationary Gawn to stand under it. :sneaky:
The more you pay, the better the whipping boy, would have been good value in that regard.

I still don't know if we won or lost the Lever trade given the years of whinging about how we overpaid for him. Whipping boy who sets all time intercept record in premiership year and forms defensive duo entire team geometry is based around, for better and worse - for everything else, there's Mastercard.

Our higher than expected finish in 2018 plus the 2021 flag sealed us winning that trade I would have thought.

Lever was absolutely a win. Been an integral cog for us especially in the premiership year. Provides a lot of leadership up back for the young guys.

We gave two late firsts for a 21 year old Lever who went on to be AA in a flag year. It was a massive win.

I am a bit of a Lever hater I guess but that was a clear win for us. Don't care for other parties to the trade, worked out great for us.

He's still ****ing shit when not 100% healthy tho.

Carlton picked up some absolute first rate duds with the picks too from memory? Lachie O'Brien or similar
probably still a win for them considering what Adelaide got out of Gibbs

I do remember Adelaide fans telling us that Lever was easily replaced by Tom Doedee.

DEE WEIGHING DECISION

MELBOURNE free agent Tom Sparrow will get through to the Demons' bye before making the next steps in his contract call after enjoying a strong run of form this year.

Sparrow is one of the Demons' unrestricted free agents and has been in discussions on a new deal past this season.

The 2021 premiership midfielder has been weighing his decision and is now expected to get to the Demons' round 16 bye before settling on his next move.

The Demons would likely have at least a four-year deal on the table for Sparrow, who has been a fixture of Melbourne's side for the past six years and has taken on more midfield responsibilities this year after the off-season list changes at the club.

Fellow Melbourne unrestricted free agent Kade Chandler is keen to stay at the Demons and talks are progressing, while the Demons have one restricted free agent – Bayley Fritsch – who is also in negotiations on a new deal of three or four years.

Please don't overpay, please don't overpay, please don't overpay

Fritsch 3 or 4 years... hell no. Two at most. Having a poor season and very lazy.
