Whether he was or wasn't a shit bloke in the past I don't know but I think he's definitely mellowed in the last few years after becoming captain and having kids etc, I'd love for him to come to the Dees. Reckon he'd be a great cultural fit, seems to have his head screwed on pretty well now and he's a very team oriented player/hard worker. Giants have actually thrived under his captaincy, deserved a GF in 2023, were red hot in the 2024 finals and underachieved last year with a bit of a choke in finals.

All that being said he might be declining slightly this year, certainly his impact has been down but that also could be an overall slump at the Giants. He's an unrestricted free agent, no doubt a few Victorian clubs will be jumping all over it. But again would take a lot to extract a captain unless they're pushed, and actually for his sake and the Giants' I'd love to see him stay and finish a one club player.

No. We just got rid of a bunch of culture toxins. Why would we need to import any.
Been captain of a pretty good team for a while so no idea what you are talking about regarding bad culture

Look, regarding Toby Greene, maybe toxic wasn't the right word, but it doesn't look good when you're getting cussed out by somebody on the field.

Toby Greene is either GWS or Geelong. There's no other possibility.

As for Lachie Neale. Not sure. Unless Viney retired early due to this achilles injury. Merrett would be better suited to our gamestyle i reckon. Humphrey more in the age demographic. Maybe we might land a few players movinmg forward with how we are playing and how SKing is perceived by media and players.

Just the Dees bits:

Frankston defender Jackson Voss, a close friend of last year's Mid-Season pickup Tom McCarthy, has been linked to the Eagles - and Melbourne - as has West Adelaide ruck Caleb May.

Melbourne is expected to take an experienced ruck to replace Tom Campbell.

I'm not to keen on another ruck but we do need a big defender like Bell or Annand. Someone like that.

Yeah a KPD is surely one of the positions we fill. Experienced ruck makes sense but not overly exciting as we will likely never see them play senior footy.

I would rather focus on bringing in younger players to chase a dynasty opposed to old blokes who might help us scrape one flag together while trading away our future.

Wouldn’t mind taking a look at Harvey Thomas, has been playing the wing like Gulden would for GWS.

The arrogance of turning your nose up at one more flag for a club that has one in 60 odd years

You've gotta actually get yourself in contention before you worry about a dynasty.

I love that Harvey Thomas is the bloke to take us to a dynasty but Toby Greene can get stuffed

Ruck makes sense for us, if we go into a finals campaign with one of Gawn or Heath injured we could end up in real trouble during a final if the second gets a knock

We've already ****ed up one dynasty, I'd trade every pick we had from 2021-2025 for even a single Merrett type that gets us to a grand final in 2022/23 by adding a different dimension to our midfield mix. Not that it would have done much for the coaching inertia.

We already have a young and talented list, a star leader who comes in and accelerates this team's timeline would give the squad huge confidence even after they're gone. None of our picks over the next two years are going to be that high, we're not trading away super valuable assets after already taking three top 5 picks (not inc Academy/FS) in the last three years.

Harvey Thomas would do more for us long term than Merrett who is a selfish campaigner who will just worry about his disposal count.
