Allan for Walter straight swap seems fair, both have potential, neither can get a look in to their clubs best 23
I do potentially like this, but...imo we haven't seen enough of Allan being played in the midfield at senior level for a sustainable period.
Considering our midfield contested game is our weakness, we need to just give him a real crack before making a decision on he's future.

Hawthorn received bugger all in the Lewis, Mitchell and Hodge trades. That is not the model we want to copy!.
Not the picks but the thinking club/business first. Wouldn’t get same picks etc but Trac/Clarry last year at Dees mentality and I know they were pushed out for completely different reasons. But where would we get bargaining chips for Butters as Port would likely match then have to trade.

Great, accumulate assets for a player who'll never come (he's moving out West), that makes no sense.
Let's trade out all the good players and father sons for picks because picks are the bomb 😂 I like your sense of humour 😉
Picks picks picks picks picks picks picks and more picks, it's the answer to it all! Only the club won't do that, they have a plan, it's better than all this fantasy footy stuff, and we're not bottoming out. We might be mid but that won't be for long.

I don’t mean this in a disparaging way, only curious; do you use AI to post on BigFooty? You seem to have a very particular way of formatting.
No. It is probably a work habit because I work as Data Analyst and I prepare my work reports in a similar way

The only advantages to Hawthorn were;
  • List and best 23 places for youth.
  • Space for injured O’Meara and a revolving door for Patton.
  • trashing the list so they could do as per Dermie a proper tank for the correct time period.

According to many sources our veterans are on low money. Their absence will not clear decent cap space. Late picks for them will not generate elite talent, will add more low rated players and lower picks can no longer be combined/combined for NGA/ FS benefits.

It is possible 3 of Pendles, Howe, Sidey and Membrey will not be playing 2027, my view. It just will be time.

As much as I hate to utter the sentence, I think it best for Pendles that he retires at end of season
His body looks just about cooked and I think it best to go out while still playing pretty well
Membrey - would be surprised if he goes again but it might depend if we land a free agent key forward
Sidey and Howe. Both probably about 40/60 to continue. Will depend how they finish season

Lol, what?? How does his body look cooked at all? Baffling

Are Lewis and Amartey going to be that much of an upgrade on McStay and to a lesser extent Buller and West?

I have liked Lewis as a player, however while he is still clunking marks and scoring a few goals, he def looks to have lost some mobility/athleticism.

Would only do either on a favourable deal like 4 years x $650-700k.

Otherwise, excited by the prospect of banking the salary cap room and have $4m to play with when Pendles, Howe and Sidebottom retire.

We have good depth, but are missing top line stars, outside of a kpd (Butts or Ballard), none of these cheapish pickups move the needle. Eg substituting McStays 25-30 goals a year for Lewis’ 30-35 goals a year doesn’t really move the dial.
Lewis is more consistently reliable than McStay when he plays but that is very inconsistent. I'm not an Amartey fan, but he'd give us something different in that he can hold separation on the lead - so it'd depend on what we wanted to do regarding our forward line.

My only issue with lewis is his injury history and his potential price point.

There is a premium placed on key position players, we saw that with SOS last year, all it takes is for one club to break the bank and overpay him.

He is not worth anything close to mill a season, 800-900k still feels high for someone with his recent history.

Yep, lets not pay high dollars for a bloke whose whole career has been talked around 'potential'. Will be 28 next year

Save up and go at Georgiades next year please! Georgiades-West-Buller would be a fun trio

Stop drinking the cool aid.
End of the day it is his call. I don’t want to see him tarnish his reputation
Very strange comments, he's playing great footy atm and certainly hasn't tarnished his reputation which you can't say about everyone.

Pendles is as fit as ever.
Moving into the winter months he will come into his own.

ND medal to go with ANZAC.

Will play on in 2027.
