Cleary reported weeks ago we've decided to stop pursuing him anyway.
Is it beyond the realms of possibility as well that he’s said no to us and will look at other options? I think we all just assumed that if he left it was likely to us when maybe we just aren’t where he wants to be if he leaves…

It would be disastrous picking up Neale. Are we really this stupid? Lightening doesn't strike twice in the same place. Tom Mitchell was the perfect addition to a side competing for the 2023 premiership. Now at least six other teams have moved past us and we're in the rebuild phase. We need a younger gun midfielder just entering free agency. Wardlaw would be an ideal pickup. We need to forget about 34 year olds.
Wardlaw just extended with North for a few years so no chance

He's from Adelaide so the assumption is he wouldn't mind going there, but no one knows what he wants. He definitely wouldn't mind whatever Tassie are offering
I’d be surprised if Beau didn’t want to go home for a decent offer
The Tassie element was front of mind for me. If he signed an extension (obviously following willingness to go to Port) I could see them being interested, but if he’s still potentially walking to Tassie it could be tricky

He may or may not, I don’t think he gives much away, but from what I’ve seen I doubt Frankie would be keen.

I think falling into the bottom 5 is our only realistic shot at Butters because it allows for us to get the end of 2026 1st which frees us up to offer more from a picks perspective.

I’d be bitterly disappointed if we’re not still pursuing Butters

This years first, next years first and Beau

Add Butters and Neale into that midfield alongside Nick and BANG
We're still into him apparently, via Gettable.

It would be disastrous to pick up a player still playing at an extremely high level for zero cost other than his salary, but we should instead go after a young player who agreed to a new contract one week ago, extending him to the end of 2028.

Cool.

I'd love the get Lachie Neale, even for 2 years. And i'd tell players like Anderson, Allan, HH etc, do whatever Lachie does, whatever traing he does, you do, whatever he eats, you eat, whatever wifes friend he sleeps with, you sleep with her.

But in all seriousness, get it done Pies.

He’s OOC. He’ll enter the draft if GC play hardball on a top 10 pick or potentially more from any of those clubs. I do agree though that it likely won’t be a packet of twisty’s, but nor will it be a brand new Lambo.
How often do good out of contract players enter the draft? In that case he goes to Essendon which if Collingwood want him isn't the outcome we want. Just park the idea of him being a bargain pickup, it's not going to happen.

Cal Ah Chee last year. Smith the year before left for significant unders under threat of the draft. Henry would have left through the draft forcing unders. There’s no scenario where a club trades a player coming off contract for a premium price anymore. It doesn’t happen.

That said go through and find me one example from the past five years where a club got premium value in that scenario and I’ll concede you’re correct.

FWIW Essendon may wind up with him in that scenario, but that’s preferable to us pissing a top 5-10 pick up the wall on him.

Charlie Ballard from GC will likely be at Collingwood in 2027.

You see, the goal is to actually be perpetually shit and near the bottom of the ladder. Apparently

Even disregarding all that, them being miffed over Pendles merch deal was baffling given their “farms for the players” scams. They go as close to salary cap rotting as anyone has since the Carlton paper bag days, they should be shutting tf up about something so minor.
How did a Brad Close jersey net over 80k?
