For Godsake-why would he go there when they have Lewis, Gunston and Dear and we have nothing? Maybe big crowds scare him.
Apparently we believed he was signing on, we moved on a month ago. According to Mitch Cleary.

Maybe our focus has already shifted to other forwards like Walter.

His missus wants to come back to Vic, and imo she’ll inevitably get what she wants and GC know it. That’s why GC are suddenly throwing cash at Walter, with the prospect of King leaving they can’t really afford to lose Walter as well.

I’m choosing to believe we’ll land Neale, King and Ballard this off season, and anyone who tries to convince me otherwise can naff off.
We definitely won't have any issues satisfying king from a financial sense.

Hawks, cats and tigers main challengers for King?

We supposedly shifted our interest because he was on the verge of re-signing. If he’s backflipped, there’s absolutely no reason why we wouldn’t be doing our best to get him to the pies again. Don’t believe all the media narrative this early in the year, I still remember everyone in the media except Barrett saying Treloar was a lock for the Tigers back in the day.

I wonder if we are back in for King what it would take to get him here. Talk is Gold Coast will match any bid similar to Port and Butters. What would GC demand, 3 firsts you would think. I wonder if that’s something we should be willing to do.

The one is certain is that Collingwood need to be Saints like or even more aggressive otherwise we know, they know, the cliff is coming, and it'll be 10+ years with Tassie coming in to recover!!!
I get so annoyed with people drumming up the idea of the cliff as if we are about to disappear of the face of the earth.

We have had a very successful era under Mcrae, and now is the time to replenish the list. It is a perfectly normal thing. The obsession with our downfall, especially from some of the media members is borderline insane.

I'm torn. The rumours about Walter on good money and to give to 2 first rounders is out there with the footy media. This year's draft is meant to be strong and maybe we should go to the draft. Also meant to have some good talls that go deep into the draft. After Houston/Schultz I'm gun shy of trading first rounders.

Also with McCarthy while he is probably 18-24 months away he is going to be bloody good with West.

I understand Neale and don't mind it, if it happens. Anyone coming in for free like Neale who can show the young ones work ethic and how to go about it isn't the worst thing.

If we end up with a top 5 pick we go to the draft, especially considering you'll get an end of first round pick on top of it due to bids. Anything else, we use to get a quality player

We said we are All-In on him so we have a Huge Contract in front of him
The mooted figure is $900k. Just because they said all in doesn’t automatically mean a million bucks.

I find it difficult to believe that the Suns will be in a position to match when they’ve already got Petracca, Rowell, Anderson and Andrew on huge deals, in addition to the reported $1m for Walter, while Miller, Rioli and Noble would be on not insignificant money either. As far as I can tell that’s them bluffing to try and put off rivals.

Yep. They won’t match

I think if its a top 10 pick we take to the draft. If it was 15+ then sure use it on a player, but think the general sense is that we want to use our early picks for the draft this year, and then use FA for quality players.

I saw O'Bree and Shannon Collins at the recent Sandringham v Oakleigh game. I think every club recruiter was there on Sunday tbf.

No Suprise as Sandy and Chargers get a Fair Few Drafted each year between the 2

And it was the only talent league game on during the weekend. After that, they all left to attend the vic metro v vic country trial.

I wouldn't be factoring in Macarthy at all yet. Just so far away.

Hawthorn an attraction for all…

I wonder whether we really have the right people in the right spots behind the scenes …
The wording is that Hawthorn are interested in these players, not that all of these players are nominating Hawthorn by default. The only player who has actually outright nominated Hawthorn is Merrett.

We've been in the ears of Rowell, King, Butters, Neale... You're jumping at shadows. It doesn't mean Collingwood are an unattractive rabble, as you might be indirectly suggesting. We're in the beginning of June ffs.

I’m not jumping at anything
It’s what it is

Ed even told them Humphrey wants Hawks —which took Cal by surprise.

King is also eyeing them —it’s pretty obvious on that one since we can’t even get a word with him at all hence why we are pursuing Walter

Imo
Neale to pies
Bailey to Crows
Merret to Hawks
Humphrey stays
King stays
walter leaves possibly essendon
Butters to dogs
Wilson probably stays but someone else will be shaken loose to keep him
if Walter was to choose Bombers ahead of us, it'll be embarrassing tbh.
What a fascinating trade period to come end of season.

I would imagine that’d be a factor of Essendon offering more coin, because imagine we’d at worst be offering comparable opportunity and a better environment (winning, a coach, facilities, size of club etc.)

Who cares if we are? He is a gun
2027 NFA McCreery is playing like a $300k player and I suspect he'd be on $450-500k.
If Tassie offer him $7m over 7 years from 2028, and it pushes a S.A Club to make an early bid at this seasons end, I'll help him pack his moving boxes and drive him to the airport along with my blessings.
Theres $500k of the $1m needed for a generational player in Neale with known output, and we'd get a 1st round draft pick on a McCreery trade.
