So where are your facts about the strength being overstated? Everything i (and others) have stated about the strength of the game in SEQ above is all publically available information.

The lions have more members than Freo, the capacity utilisation (%) of the gabba is higher than optus. Lions just paid off all debt that went close to a peak of 15M over the past seven years and are now investing for the future. I think you will find that the afl money will come back down to match the mid teir clubs next year (excluding travel and prizemoney).

As discussed above a Brisbane 2 team 20 will have limilted impact on Gold Coast due to geographic distance and the limited pentration of suns supporters into the brissie suburbs. If anything the boom and strength of afl in queensland has been strongest on the gold coast (schools/juinor clubs).

For all of us on the ground here in SEQ we are seeing the huge movement happening before our eyes in local footy clubs, schools and the wider community.
Why do the Lions get the third highest funding during a Dynasty if everything is going so good?

You got under 20K at home during your last bad period. It'll happen again if the AFL ever turn off the free first rounder tap.

No point adding a 2nd Brisbane team when the stadium is going to go to 60K in the near future. WA's attendance isn't related to ticket sales as WC is still sell it out even though only 70% turn up. Membership numbers mean nothing these days, they are basically mailing lists.

Why not an injection into the WAFL and have 12 prominent teams instead of two or two and a bit?
What do you mean by an "injection" in the WAFL - (be specific in how this money is going to be spent).

Why do you think the modern football public in Perth care about this at all?

As an actual Queenslander, a third SEQ team (which is way more than a decade away AND should NOT be team 20 ahead of Canberra), should be a Sunshine Coast based team and NOT a Brisbane II. It definitely should NOT be a hybrid. This should eventually happen but only after the Suns are firmly established and the Lions have had a few years at the new stadium first.

Sunshine Coast like the Gold Coast is a fast growing area, lots of expat Victorians that already follow Australian football and while they won't change allegiances, it's their kids that will start supporting their local team. Also the Sunshine Coast is geographically different to Brisbane. There is no Lions or AFL supporter in Brisbane that would change to a Brisbane II, there would be people born and bred in the Sunshine Coast that would change of they got their own team. They also don't have any professional sporting teams of their own besides a Melbourne Storm affiliated netball side. Also some AFL players have come from the Sunshine Coast, such as Jack Payne, Ty Gallop and Eric Hipwood, all three of which are premiership players.
Who do you proposes will actually pay for a 20,000+ oval stadium to play home games in the Sunshine Coast though? There's no infrastructure.

At least in Brisbane you have a quite literal Olympic-quality stadium that already has been paid for and not in use every second week of the AFL season.

Too many issues in qld to really have a good crack a second Brisbane team / third seq team. Should park the conversation till after 2032.

Current issues:
  • new stadium of 63k adding considerable supply into a city where the team coming off the back off a dynasty gets around 30k, and just a few years back was getting 20k in down years
  • not enough general demand for afl games in qld for a third team (evidenced by lions and suns not selling out their games and tv viewership)
  • will provide a major hit on the support of at least the lions when the lions are unproven in a stadium as large as 63k
  • playing outside of Brisbane has no infrastructure to support it. QLD government aren’t paying 800m for a 25k stadium on the Sunshine Coast

Brisbane2 is realistically 15 years off at best.

However afl still might have a brain fart and put a team there sooner. If they see the seq as a ‘must have’ over the next decade which would be driven by tv pressure about needing more content in that market. SEQ as a market is more valuable than Canberra and WA combined.

Cricket, Golf, Surf Life Saving, Basketball, Swimming.Sports which are played in every state, whether you're an Aussie or an Immigrant.

Along with netball, Australian Football and a host of other sports.
Australian Football is played all around Australia others are not.
Australian Football is played at an elite level others are not.
Australian Football is the only indigenous code.

That the exact reason to improve the profile of the WAFL.

You're joking.
Ok, so say you spend millions on an advertising campaign across WA media sources.

"Go to WAFL games".

What do you think happen and is there a return on investment?

The best time for discussion is before the event.
There is no doubt that Australian Football holds are very important part of Queensland's future.

The construction of an Olympic stadium in Brisbane is a huge step forward in consolidation
but also a great opportunity for leverage possibilities.
If the Brisbane Lions are playing out of this great new stadium then
that puts pressure on other regions to improve their infrastructure.
No infrastructure on the Sunshine Coast, then there will be pressure to improve that.

When Perth built their new stadium, then all of sudden other states were talking about improving their stadium situation.
