AFL Player 21: Archie “The Enforcer” Roberts - Rising Star & Most Improved at the BnF

Reminds me of durham when he first was drafted, threw himself at every tackle and contest despite his frame not being as big as the more seasoned players around him. Durham used to fall off a few tackles and get bodied at marking contest occasionally in his early years too but the willingness was always there and now with a more mature body he's a contested beast.
You can tell Roberts isn't going to lose many contests in a year or two.

He had one contest where it was 2v1 and he went back with the flight, spoiled it out to our winger who then had a run with the ball. Was so elite.

My only criticism of him is still his kicking, prone to a massive clanger, similar to Caddy I reckon a lot of them are when he's run so hard he's out of legs as he kicks

Reid, Archie and Caddy should be top 3

Not impressed with Levi last night
Right now I'd have Reid, Roberts, Ashcroft and probably Langford ahead of Nate tbh

He is a type of player that will raise others around him. Doesn’t want to lose, even a one of one contest. Will always fly the flag. Has a bit of campaigner in him.

Will be suspended many times in his career. Opposition clubs will hate him. We are gonna love him. He is the type of player we should have drafted years ago. Love him.

obviously it has no bearing on anything but **** did I laugh watching Robbo completely star in a tough, physical and skillful way whilst that Ashcroft kid got subbed off after about 2 touches
That sub ****ed my multi and I'll never forgive Archie for owning him..... until just now I forgive you Archie.
There'll always be another multi.*

They run too hard and over do it but it's something every player does and eventually learns they need to slow down.

RS should always be a first year player and nothing will change my mind. Fix the eligibility
I don't mind it being under 21 tbh. And first year players generally do win

I agree with this but it's hard to argue Roberts is the furthest advanced of all the eligible players, Ashcroft, Lalor and Murphy Reid are probably the best performed first year players but their impact has not been as consistent, which is fine, it's just really hard to assess apples to apples if there is an 18 month age gap between some eligible players.

If I was to pick a 1,2,3 right now it would be Roberts, Caddy and then Harvey Langford Luke Trainor and Ashcroft duking it out for 3rd and I don't really think there's any bias in that.

Needs to learn how to kick to his ability. Does everything right except his kicking choice and execution is just dreadful at times
Yep. Has to reign in what he is trying to pick of with his kicking. Has been coming up with some horrible misses.

Have not been totally impressed in the recent weeks.
Like the way he attacks the play but as a defender you need to be close to your opponent at some stage.
Also butchering the ball a bit.
Plenty to work with but needs to tighten a few things up.
