I do hope that if you make a mistake this big that everyone gives you the same due consideration you have given balta. 2nd chances are given to this with true remorse which he has shown, and that doesn't matter if it was the 60s, 70s or now. Would you conduct the same approach if your family member had done that. Real supportive you would be.

If Balta, said he an ice addiction or was battling depression, I could imagine the media wouldn’t be carrying on about his actions on the night.

I think the carry on by the media and people on here has been way over the top. Yes Balta went over the top with how he handled it and should be some repercussions which he has been given. it was not unprovoked attack and obviously back story for him doing what he did.

People say he could have killed him is an over exaggeration. King hits and knives generally what kills most people in todays times when comes to fights and in my opinion what Balta did was over the top but not a hangable offence.

I’ve seen and experienced some very bad violence in my life, but still there are scales way up from even what I have experienced. That Balta incident does not come close to qualifying as a sickening attack from where I sit. It looks bad because the other bloke wasn’t fighting back but Balta has barely hurt him. A sickening attack would be beating him to within an inch of his life, with serious intent to injure.

What Balta did was wrong on a similar scale to what you might see in a schoolyard fight on any given day. Certainly when I went to school stuff like that was an almost daily occurrence.

Fortunately the presiding judge will have a better perspective as he will be dealing with some seriously violent crimes regularly.

She is right to say it doesn’t set a great example. Wrong not to put the “attack” where Balta clearly thought he was defending his brother, into better perspective. Kids etc have already seen the club has suspended him from matches for 6 weeks. They will note Balta has had to pay out a sizeable sum in compensation. And they will see his sentence. What they will also see is good character, no priors, full co-operation and genuine contrition will be taken into account. Hopefully they take their cues from that.

Yze put the selection issue to bed when he said there needs to be selection integrity. If the Selection committee see that a player's performances on the track over the last 6 weeks earns that player an overwhelming case to be selected in the best 22 available, then he has to be selected (if available). Otherwise, it is telling the playing group that demonstrating what is needed to be selected in the best 22 may not earn you selection.

Things are pretty crook if your looking to get some woke clicks on a case infront of the courts.
Balta’s career will be going a lot longer than hers will be in the top job.

Totally disagree we shouldn’t give in to the media scrutiny. He must play in 2s this weekend at least and bring him in next weekend
