It was all about confidence for Ben. He previously used to play reactive football against his opponents. He used to wait for them to make the first move, especially when it came to body work. His confidence has skyrocketed this year and he knows that he belongs. There is no more reactive footy for Ben, its strictly proactive.

When I flew down to watch the round 1 game against Port, and being able to see the whole ground, as apposed to watching on tv, it was so good to see Ben actually instigate the body work on Dixon as the ball was kicked towards them. It was as if he was the forward he beat Dixon hands down. And this has continued all year. If he keeps this form up throughout the year, he should be in the discussion for the AA fullback position. However we all know that because he wears the North colours, he wont even make the squad.
He’s not even close to AA and it has nothing to do with what colour jumper he wears

We will just have to agree to disagree on this one. Mckay's form has been brilliant this year and if he is consistent throughout the remainder of the year and continues an upward spiral with his form, there is no reason whatsoever he shouldn't be in the conversation. Another factor you need to consider is, how easy the ball has been kicked into our backline. Sometimes no matter how good you are as a defender, when the ball is constantly kicked in the area with ease, there is not much you can do, no matter how good you are. Even with that happening this year, Ben has held his own.

Regarding the bolded part, Robbie Tarrant may disagree.

True. But maybe when Taz is back??
He’s reading it well and clunking marks and will take heat off Larkey. Let him smash some packs too.

i'd send tarrant forward before mckay at this stage. robbie did some good work in the triple towers era

No way man. He's looking like being a very dominant defender so why would you move him?

Because CHF is more important than CHB.

Insert Tarrant, Corr and McDonald into that defence and there is an opportunity to give Benny a go up forward solving many issues at once if it works.

Should have done it yesterday and made Darcy Moore defend.

Nope. He stays in the defence. We'll have an A-Grade backline once they're all back
