Great interview, he speaks really well, particularly for someone who has done very little media since joining the club a few years back. He's quickly becoming the backline general.

He’s not even close to AA and it has nothing to do with what colour jumper he wearsIt was all about confidence for Ben. He previously used to play reactive football against his opponents. He used to wait for them to make the first move, especially when it came to body work. His confidence has skyrocketed this year and he knows that he belongs. There is no more reactive footy for Ben, its strictly proactive.
When I flew down to watch the round 1 game against Port, and being able to see the whole ground, as apposed to watching on tv, it was so good to see Ben actually instigate the body work on Dixon as the ball was kicked towards them. It was as if he was the forward he beat Dixon hands down. And this has continued all year. If he keeps this form up throughout the year, he should be in the discussion for the AA fullback position. However we all know that because he wears the North colours, he wont even make the squad.
agree, he is holding his own well and truly though,He’s not even close to AA and it has nothing to do with what colour jumper he wears
Imagine how good he'll be when Tarrant, Lukey Mac and Corr are in defence with him
I hope you are right about waiting 2-3 years & he will be recognised by the wider AFL .Give it another season or 2 and he will be...
We will just have to agree to disagree on this one. Mckay's form has been brilliant this year and if he is consistent throughout the remainder of the year and continues an upward spiral with his form, there is no reason whatsoever he shouldn't be in the conversation. Another factor you need to consider is, how easy the ball has been kicked into our backline. Sometimes no matter how good you are as a defender, when the ball is constantly kicked in the area with ease, there is not much you can do, no matter how good you are. Even with that happening this year, Ben has held his own. He’s not even close to AA and it has nothing to do with what colour jumper he wears
No way man. He's looking like being a very dominant defender so why would you move him?Forget defence, move him to FF ASAP.
Plus his set shot kicking is in ziebels league. Even his brother wastes a lot of opportunities with his round the corner set shots because he can't kick a drop punt accurately. But bens field kicking is fine.No way man. He's looking like being a very dominant defender so why would you move him?

True. But maybe when Taz is back??No way man. He's looking like being a very dominant defender so why would you move him?

He’s reading it well and clunking marks and will take heat off Larkey. Let him smash some packs too.

Nope. He stays in the defence. We'll have an A-Grade backline once they're all backBecause CHF is more important than CHB.
Insert Tarrant, Corr and McDonald into that defence and there is an opportunity to give Benny a go up forward solving many issues at once if it works.
Should have done it yesterday and made Darcy Moore defend.
I hope they experiment with swinging himHe would be a great transition into a forward. But we don’t have that luxury atm.
