You really think it would be wise to make an example out of a young aboriginal male? When you’ve given hall passes for similar behaviour to young white kids.

Especially in todays environment, after they gave support to the voice, even our coach is currently headed to the hrc.

Surely the afl can’t be that dumb..

Yeah, I've said before the ongoing Clarko situation makes this one very difficult for the AFL.

Hard to believe they've been caught up again by their habit of making rules and shit up as they go along hey

Players on the injured list have tended to run laps or do exercises or drills within the precinct (LaTrobe previously, Arden St now). I saw Tarryn on site at LaTrobe prior to this latest issue emerging even though his rehab program kept him away from the main group. However, once the story broke, he was nowhere to be seen.

Appreciated feedback sir :thumbsu:

I appreciate your point but it's a bit like pitting domestic violence against institutionalised racism to see which one causes most reputational damage for the AFL. Certainly, the AFL has taken a strong position on indigenous reconciliation, but creating and maintaining a safe and inviting environment for women would take priority. That's where the Hawthorn indigenous families and the HRC have the AFL and Hawthorn over a barrel.

It also means that an indigenous footballer caught up in a domestic violence saga and allowed to skate free by the AFL could become a potential powder keg situation, what with Jacinta Price and the Liberals looking to divert the attention and fallout created by the Voice debate to the issue of domestic violence within Aboriginal communities. It would be brutal if due to a few regrettable text messages, Tarryn was to become the poster boy for a cynical political campaign to force through another Royal Commission just to embarrass the government and otherwise achieve nothing for victims.

The lack of transparency on the AFL process is stunning.

Why the heck is this investigation dragging on so long for? So much for integrity.
Time someone from the club went into the media and passed comment that we hope this process doesn’t take as long as Clarkos saga.

Looking at you cam Zurhaar

All of this is well and good but you’re still holding a young aboriginal male to different standards then others.

If we couldn’t cite examples of players getting the no case to answer for actual violence, why would you let someone else hang out to dry for seemingly text messages?
because reasons…

Of course you are right about holding Tarryn to a different standard, but as The Warlord said above, the AFL has managed to place themselves between a rock and hard place through their own manipulations.

How the afl normally works, use the big stick on one to save many, punishments dished are normally a line in the sand.
I’ve got no doubt in my mind they’d love to dish out a big suspension at the start of the season and say look at how seriously we take domestic violence.
The only issue is wait till you get a big name player, in a big4 club on the cusp of finals.. they’ll do everything in their power to minimise.

The hypocrisy they display should be the subject of a documentary.

I truly believe we haven't even seen his ceiling or top ability. He'd be close if he 100% applies himself but that's a massive IF. He can do things that no other player can on our list.
League-wide. Not too many players can easily waltz out of a centre bounce, run 20 metres and dob it from 50. He makes this look effortless. If we was to replicate only his previous best over seasons, not just half-seasons it would reveal few -if any - weaknesses to his game.

The funny thing is that if he ever gets to that consistency, I can see his game go to another level. Another 25% stat-wise.

I'll bet you several beers (or coffees) they are.

It's really important we wrap our arms around tarryn. It must be so isolating not being able to get into it with the boys over something that I presume is trivial, matter of opinion type stuff that depends on where u went to school. I dunno what the story is, but some of the stuff he has been kicked out of the club for in the past like dick pics and the like although awkward, should be a bit of fun, but some people don't see it that way and sometimes agendas are formed when things don't pan out.

In full flight busting a gut down a wing there's not many better players in the game. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, he is our Shaun Burgoyne. Look at port vs hawthorn since that trade. Hawks miles in front, length Flemington str8.

You can see it when he plays he lives with his heart on his sleeve. We don't want that changing because it's those traits that equate to him potentially being a difference maker for us. I think the club need to push the afl to resolve this ASAP so he can get back to the club where he is loved and can put his best foot forward. It's all a learning experience after all, but we want him at our club.

Hard no.

It's not "a bit of fun" to threaten to spread sexual content of another person, regardless of the consent that content was created with. It's against the law. Against the law to do it, against the law to threaten to do it.

It's not "a bit of fun" to send sexually explicit pictures of yourself to anyone without their consent either. It's against the law as well.

They are both forms of sexual harassment, the former being a form of domestic violence becuase threats are used to control.

Just saying what I am hearing. I am told TT result will not be good for TT (significant suspension). Should be something official shortly. Like many on here I am not quite sure how the AFL become judge and executioner but I suppose their one size fits all is bringing the game into disrepute. Just saying what I am hearing. I suspect delay is all about checking their legals before they announce.

Let's see what happens, if he's repeated mistakes by texting shitty stuff to the same person a punishment can be stood up that way.
