Past #26: Tarryn Thomas [Part III] - [C.Twomey] AFL rules TT is eligible to play in all competitions as of 14 October

Just saying what I am hearing. I am told TT result will not be good for TT (significant suspension). Should be something official shortly. Like many on here I am not quite sure how the AFL become judge and executioner but I suppose their one size fits all is bringing the game into disrepute. Just saying what I am hearing. I suspect delay is all about checking their legals before they announce.
Thank god for that - you’re always wrong

Thx for sharing 😛

Hope I am but just what I have been told.

If, as is appears the case, he's texted the same woman the same kind of shitty stuff as he got in trouble for last year, then he can expect to be punished for it. That's how it works.

If you agree you were wrong and aren't punished on grounds you've acknowledged you were wrong and have said you won't do it again, and do that exact same thing again, then they punish you the next time.

Even if it is "minor" in the greater scheme of things. If he got caught driving on a suspended licence again the court would punish more harshly than last time.

It's really important we wrap our arms around tarryn. It must be so isolating not being able to get into it with the boys over something that I presume is trivial, matter of opinion type stuff that depends on where u went to school. I dunno what the story is, but some of the stuff he has been kicked out of the club for in the past like dick pics and the like although awkward, should be a bit of fun, but some people don't see it that way and sometimes agendas are formed when things don't pan out.

In full flight busting a gut down a wing there's not many better players in the game. If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times, he is our Shaun Burgoyne. Look at port vs hawthorn since that trade. Hawks miles in front, length Flemington str8.

You can see it when he plays he lives with his heart on his sleeve. We don't want that changing because it's those traits that equate to him potentially being a difference maker for us. I think the club need to push the afl to resolve this ASAP so he can get back to the club where he is loved and can put his best foot forward. It's all a learning experience after all, but we want him at our club.
I agree with most of this. Not the bolded tho.

The delay in announcing the outcome does point to it being somewhat heavy - seems they might be spending time getting their legals right.

He hasn't committed a single sackable offence, but a pattern is forming.

Same kind of pattern like Dusty and JDG had though - and they both did stuff that's worse than Tarryn.

He's running out of chances, but nowhere near there yet.

I just hope he doesn't want a fReSh sTaRt

I dunno about that, I doubt he'd be suspended for more than two games for something that's not criminal.

Especially if its a star chamber scenario where we never get to see the evidence.

Hard no.

It's not "a bit of fun" to threaten to spread sexual content of another person, regardless of the consent that content was created with. It's against the law. Against the law to do it, against the law to threaten to do it.

It's not "a bit of fun" to send sexually explicit pictures of yourself to anyone without their consent either. It's against the law as well.

They are both forms of sexual harassment, the former being a form of domestic violence becuase threats are used to control.
I thought the police dropped that case?

Tarryn avoided conviction on the charge of threatening to distribute an intimate image as that charge was replaced with using a carriage service to harass, for which he was ordered to pay $1000. The situation was a little more complicated as I understand he never actually threatened to distribute images and there is no evidence that he ever distributed the images but the woman involved was led to believe that he had. Her anguish over that was no doubt very real but Tarryn's actions did not fit the crime of threatening to distribute that he was charged with whereas the charge of using text messages to harass was more accurate.

I have not heard of any non-consensual dick pics being involved, and if there had been, VicPol probably would have charged him with that.

You can just see * getting in his ear... 'you wouldn't have been given that suspension if you were playing with us'.

Yes, they have a sterling track record in avoiding suspensions for their players for off field stuff lol

It’s a perception thing as well - AFL got to come across like they’re taking is seriously.

This isn’t a protest at races , where they say dismissed after a 10 min chat.

This is what’s wrong with society.

Taking action because of the ‘perception’ of certain behaviours.

And we know the longer a protest goes on the more likely it is to be upheld.

None of us knows what he has been accused of doing, but if it falls into a less serious category and he is suspended for it, then I hope the club will fight at least the length of suspension. If it is serious then TT and North will have to cop it sweet and North will have to review TT's status within the club. Let's hope it doesn't have to come to that. There have been plenty of precedents of serial offenders who have escaped suspension, which the North legal teams needs to remind the AFL of in the spirit of equal justice. North have been far more proactive than other clubs in dealing with anti social behaviour by previously suspending TT and putting him through appropriate courses aimed at changing his attitude towards women. For all intents and purposes he is currently under suspension again by being excluded from all pre season activities at the club. Any suspension he receives should factor in the current club "suspension" as a lack of a pre season will have a significant negative impact on his season proper.

If your guitar lessons take off and you turn to songwriting I think you have your first lyrics sorted.
Sounds like a country song to me

So you can get charged for just being an arseh*le? Some of bigfooty is in trouble then...

So you can get charged for just being an a-hole? Some of bigfooty is in trouble then...

That’s not how it works.

If you send a derogatory text to a woman then you will find yourself in trouble.

If you send a derogatory text to a male no one will care unless it’s a minority or something progressive.
