We all hope so. This kids ceiling is sky high, we are all really disappointed that we haven’t seen him get off the ground.

I think people have forgotten how good this guy was in the second half of 2021.

I doubt anyone has forgotten it.

But where he was then to where he was 12 months after are very different places. I’m aware there’s multiple factors to that.

IMO because of his high potential and that he’s contracted, he is one of the few we would probably get ball park value for at the trade table. And plays a position we have some level of depth in (ie Larkey would be untouchable as our only KPF with any experience).

Although it looks like he’s staying so that point is moot.

I don't know about all these off field stories I hear/read.

What I do know is he has had dreadful coaching since he has been at the club and the fact he produced that said period of form says a lot.

We wouldn't have gotten anywhere near value for him in a trade currently. A pick 10 - 15 would be absolute best case, likely lower.

Even if we did pick up someone anywhere near as good as him (which I highly doubt), it would be 4 years of development required to get him to where TT is at now.

To me he is required player regardless of his trade value.

I'm backing him in for a massive pre-season and we can write off 2022 for multiple reasons.

I like that idea but I also think he should be rotated through the midfield.

He could easily become a damaging mid with the skill set he has.

If he's not in the middle then I agree, half back. I don't like him up forward. Not that he's bad there, I just prefer him having the ball and utilising his field kicking as much as possible.

Agreed. And on top of his kicking it’s his toughness, agility and height to play tall or small, great overhead. Has it all to be a gun back there.

He looked like our best player by an absolute country mile in March.

I had him as an absolute certainty for the Syd from what I saw of him coming out of pre-season.

His season is one of the most disappointing I can remember from a North player in the last few decades.


No more excuses to be perfectly honest. I'd expect nothing less than him coming into 2023 absolutely transformed physically.

He has so much talent he can be a star anywhere on the field.

Yes he did have some genuine reasons for his poor season. His commitment to training has for the majority of his time at North been sub par.

His best season coincided with his best pre season. He is a very talented footballer and at his best walks into every single side. We aint got many of them.

Should he turn the corner, he is a new recruit for 2023.

100% - i had seen the signs a year or so ago. But unless the leaders in the team really took him aside and told him to stop hanging with the wrong ppl, stop with the nightclub and clothing promotions and focus on footy this year was always going to happen, and it's probably a necessary evil.

Hopefully this year has shown him what he needs to do and if he turns this around he'll be mentally tough enough to get through anything.

i have enormous respect for players that face their demons (like Goldy in 2017, like Thomas did with his goal kicking, to a lesser extent waite) and turn things around. they know the triggers than cause their mental lapses and know what they need to do to fix them. they always come out the other side consistently high performers, goldy still is, Thomas became very accurate for years after he had the yips and waite knew the bring the defensive pressure and the goals would come.

Sure there may have been problems with the relationship with Noble but there seems to have been an air of non professionalism from TT that's been around both before and after Noble. To say it's 100% Noble's fault is absolute bollocks.

Pretty sure you'll find Noble was primarily sacked because of his shocking relationships with the players and supporting staff.

I didn't say it was "100% his fault", however it was by far more Noble's fault than TT's in how the relationship went off the rails.

Thomas will be like a new recruit for us next year, feel free to quote me net year if I am wrong.
