That's our scoreline for the last 3 weeks.... what the hell is going on?

Granted, some of those 52 behinds were rushed, but rushed often means they didn't give the ball enough distance, or shot too low, etc.

We should have won last week, and had we shot more accurately against hawthorn, we would have been in a much better position halfway through the last quarter.

It's so frustrating!

Should have won all three games, and we'd be well placed in the top 8. Unfortunately we haven't been able to do that, it's something we really need to work on. We almost coughed the game up today as well, despite having a heap more shots at goal.

28.52 = 80 scoring shots on goal in 3 weeks.

Thats 26-27 shots per game.

If we get that many shots on goal each week we will eventually have the luck run our way.
that is 100% true. but also 28.52 is absolutely disgraceful.

in terms of a 3-week period i reckon this as innacurate as any team has ever been.

According to the blokes on ABC radio he kicked 4.7 today:eek:
Yeah 4.6 I think... I wasn't at the game, was just looking at live stats, and was shocked that our sharpshooter was missing so much.

Apparantly 2 were posters, and he had a few arsey shots off the ground etc that never had a chance, but still... Summed up our accuracy for the whole team.

He kicked 4.6.
1 set shot on the boundary he hit the post,

Another poster, brilliant effort where he turned a guy on the boundary (exactly like against Hawks where BMac stole the goal on the line except he used his left!!!)

Dunno if they counted the one where it was a 1 on 1 contest, tried to hold off his man but it bounced off his foot and rolled through for a point too, i think they did.

Another chance he just soccered off the ground out of a scramble in the forward line in the last quarter.

Also had another chance from a set shot in the boundary line in the last quarter that missed. He was looking pretty tired as his set shots do when we get to the last quarter.

And i got there after quarter time so i missed his first miss.

His kicking was really really good, and all for about a inch difference in the kicks would've had 7 goals.

to be fair, as shit as our goal kicking was, lecras 4.6 was about the most accurate 4.6 your ever gonna see.

one nearly amazing goal from the right forward pocket hits the post, one of the ground out of nowhere.... don't ask me about the other four cause i can't remember.

totally.

we have some problems up front that extend beyond simply bad luck. hunter is a part-time forward at best. we need kennedy/lynch/mckinley/others to convert those full- and half-chances in order to become a top 8 team again.

we could be 3-0 the past three weeks with some straight kicking.
(possible 5-2 record?!)

Cheers for that Rojo I was shocked at the end when the comentators said he kicked 4.6 as I didnt remember him missing that much, but as you said it was the half chances and crumming type goals that were mostly missed. However that is mostly due to our poor disposal into the forward 50 making the forwards have to crum around for goals, LeCras is servicable as a crummer but hes no Rioli.

It changes the whole dynamic of the game when you kick that poorly, you kick 1 extra goal a quarter rather than the behind and it puts huge amounts of pressure on the opposition. Having a 25 point lead over Melbourne going into the 3rd/4th quarters is a much harder task for them than a 19 point lead, it gives the opposition belief when there that much closer and leads to the sort of hard fought 4 quarter games that we saw on the weekend.

Not to mention it completely screwes our percentage, you can make the finals on percentage alone with the competition as close as it is now. We desperately need to have a large percentage coming into the last rounds of the season.

That one from the boundary was very unlucky.

It made the post shake like hell, I've never seen it move so much.

Two reasons IMO

1. The position we take our shots from - Out of those 80 shots id hazard a guess less then 5 would of been 30m out straight infront shots. We take all our shots at goal either from outside 50, on the run or taking a mark on a big or slight angle. The forwards and midfielders need to sit down, have a chat and work out a ****ing gameplan where they can have atleast 1 shot 10m out infront every quarter.

2. Too many players stab at the ball. Lynch, Hunter, LeCras. Our 3 main forwards. All stab there shots for goals. McKinley is the only forward who kicks through the ball in any shape or form.

At end of season, will get Fev to fly over and give the boys a lesson in kicking, headlocking, wearing dildos, etc, but mainly for the kicking inservice. He has an unusual grip but a nice kick.
Will pay him in beer.:thumbsu:
That should help in 2010:)

Exactly what I was thinking.. Many of those shots were from out wide, because we're taking so long to get the ball into the forward 50, (playing out wide) that the only place left to lead is out wide.. Earlier in the season (against Port in particular) we were moving the ball a whole lot quicker down the corridor. Hence not giving midfielder/defenders enough time to flood back into the space between CHF and FF
