Dont care how he plays for the rest of this season, just enjoy his footy and then have a good pre season. This kid needs some luck and something to look forward to more than most.
If ever i have wished a player 'GOOD LUCK' its Josh Gibcus

Slow burn for this guy, would only let him do a couple of straight sprints this weekend during the game then rest. Next week a few straight sprints and maybe a single leap. Keep adding a new movement each week.

His knee will be fully fit by 2028 to play a standard AFL game.

I would play him forward.

Don’t mind playing him forward but can’t see why it would help prevent an injury

When he got injured in the Carlton game he was playing as a forward

I assume he's had a similar visual transformation to Thilthorpe – massive beard, +20kg of muscle?

I’m not a religious man but have turned my eyes to the heavens a few times for nothing but best of luck for Gibbo- hope he stays fit and strong and reminds all in the afl over next few years of why he was so highly touted in the draft

because as a forward he can take marks on the lead and does not need to jump over packs all the time.

but mainly as a defender it is more important to kick your feet when landing. So as a forward after leaping he can land on his knees taking out the all injuries from such actions because he does not have to worry about forwards kicking goals against us when he is played as a forward

That is what Rance so great, did not need to jump over players heads, always kept his feet and was quite nimble. This is why arguably Gibcus is built as potentially a better forward ignoring history and another reason why Balta could be as much effective in the right role as a forward rather than back

A backs job is stopping goals. A forwards job is kicking goals. Provided Gibcus kicks goals, and if he does not need to risk his knees he can still kick goals everyone is happy. likewise if Balta kicks goals a lot of other stuff is less relevant. It is why goal kicking is so important for forwards over the journey, especially in finals etc,,
