even with his limitations I think he is capable of playing decent football for us and we will see closer to his best in the back half of the year.

Doubt he'll get dropped any time soon.

Had a very good leader's game. Is a physical presence setting the tone for his young comrades.

Has a decent hoof when he goes for the longer kick.

No idea what his stats were but he was influential for mine.
His first half in particular was great IMO. Can see how LDU is walking taller with Jed around

Regardless of his performance the boys do walk taller with him around, and he protects the boys when it comes to the bounce with his defensive pressure. His short kicks leave some to be desired, it’s never been his strongest suit but he is building week on week from where he’s come from and getting better.

Jed at his best gives us a lot even when he’s not getting a tonne of the ball.

Agreed.
We just look a better tram

We just look a better team when he’s going - as he is now with a few games under his belt.

Came back underdone - but the team needed him to. If we were a better team, he’d have had more time in the 2’s, that’s not his fault.
Does a lot without the ball; shepherding and blocking that creates the time and space for his team mates to play with less pressure - vital for LDU, Thomas, Horne etc.

Also, shows the younger guys how to perform without the ball, taking the run of the opposition and bumping them out of the context opening the game up for us - this is where Powell and others need guidance.

Provides structure in the contest too. Our transition out of the contest with short sharp handballs was better and more effective - the flow on effect is that we get cleaner ball into open play and are better able to transition and maintain possession.

Capitulising with F50 entries will take a bit of time - for Jed and the team.

Can take a mark too.

Summary: The benefit he provides to the team with structure and leadership far outweighs the negatives - with this balance improving more as he gets continuity and games under his belt.

I love watching Jed. He’s brutal. True shinboner.

This pretty much aligns with my view. You need some players like him in the team, just not too many of them. He has some assets as well that others don't have besides his obvious physicality:
  • Fast
  • Repeat efforts, constant repeat efforts when fit
  • Good grab - even exceptional - for his size
  • Hits hard and legal
  • Works incredibly hard without the ball

Can't argue too much with the eye test that as of today we run better with him in the team.

Great game. Great fortnight. The reason hes best 22 and walks into our side is because the man has a heart and cracks in.
Sure his kicking is suspect but cant even fault that the past 2 weeks.

Love Jeds intensity & desire but gee, his disposal by foot is sub-par.
The funny thing is that Jed is actually a pretty good kick for goal.

Jed’s issue is he is iffy with the executing the depth of a pass, whereas when kicking for goal, he can freely kick through it.

He is actually your perfect option for a pressure forward, with the odd stint in the middle to relieve your resting main mids.
