is this happening but just with not who i expectedAnother impressive outing for North Melbourne's Reserves side has young tall Matt Whitlock edging closer to an early season debut.
In Saturday's physical VFL clash against Box Hill, the draftee played with poise as he gathered 27 disposals, nine intercepts and seven marks.
The performance backs up Whitlock's strong recent form and suggests he will be in consideration when the Kangaroos match committee selects the team for Saturday night's Round 4 AFL match against Sydney.
Have you seen this article?
Should be a good chance with Pittonet coming in for them. Kinda offsets playing Teakle or Maley imo.so can we finally make this happen?
Or the plan still to wait to mid year again
And yet we looked better last year when we played the extra tall in the second half of the year compared to the firstWe get torched on the groundball playing two tall forwards. Playing three is going to make things worse, not better.
It's currently working with Adelaide because:
- They are very good at the groundball
- Their three tall forwards are all in very good form
- Their full ground defense is solid
- Their entire list is extremely fit with Burgess running the S&C program
We cannot tick any of these boxes. Not one. So expecting to roll out three talls and for it to have similar results is f*kn dumb.
With Goldie and 2 meter Peter this week they might just have to...We need to stretch there defence so having 3 talls will do that...Another week of hoping we finally bring in a second ruck for a small
Just give it a go already!
We don't have good enough talls outside of larkey and darling to punish a small defence. All it does is enables essendon to run it out of defence with no pressure once it hits the ground. With Goldie and 2 meter Peter this week they might just have to...We need to stretch there defence so having 3 talls will do that...
Pppffft.Another week of hoping we finally bring in a second ruck for a small

it’s wild that we haven’t tried this set up yet this yearWith Goldie and 2 meter Peter this week they might just have to...We need to stretch there defence so having 3 talls will do that...
Even a numbnuts like Brad Scott recognised that unless you have a fleet of electric runners (spoiler - we don't) you play 3 talls at either end and you'll go a certain way just having some stability alone.it’s wild that we haven’t tried this set up yet this year
It’s not like what we’ve been doing has been succesful
You take this year and first half of last year vs second half of last year with the extra tall and it’s clear which structure we should be using

e.g. park Teakle in the goal square and tell him to mark or neutralise anything that comes in.
Now Larkey doesn't get double teamed and Darling can use his endurance to mark around the ground more.
Plus 2nd rucks actually have to contend with a 204cm opponent rather than pat a 192cm Jack Darling on the head.
