Hey Micky we’ve been here before - gloating on the highway robbery with Clarke , EVW , will Walker and the like.
Every one of those guys you mentioned was drafted later than Goat and JHF. They are all solid second rounders, ranked there for a reason.

Curtis is the fifth ranked player for his age by AFL rankings (JHF is third). In his first season. None of those other players achieved that either. (He and Eddie Mazda both went 10-20 picks behind where they could have gone if they'd come from somewhere other than the Jets too.)

Yeah mate, I was pretty high on him - his ceiling is one of the highest in the draft.

He's raw, but has so much to work with.

Based of what you've seen in the VFL and then yesterday; would you hold your view of him being in the top 5-10? I've watched a few VFL games, and his ability to accumulate around the ground seems to have got steadily better, probably as you said, a sign of continually improving endurance.

I'm bullish!

Even if he had a quiet game, I think I still would have been blown away by his athletic profile. It was my first time seeing him in person and it was absurd for a kid who had only recently turned 19. He is a freak in every positive sense of the word. The fact that he showed multiple flashes of instinctive football ability is just the cherry on top.

This kid has all of the tools to be a star. I'm beyond excited to see how he develops.

looks like he could be the player we hoped Shaun Atley would be. Already a better decision maker.

With his size, speed and agility, how long before Clarko gives in to the temptation to throw him in the middle?

Imagine him, LDU and JHF monstering opposition centre square set ups.
It’s tempting but we need quick receivers on the outer to capitalise on our midfield dominance. Apart from black holes across CHF and CHB, the wings have suffered for not having players there who can repeat sprint, be the lead up marker on kick ins and feed the ball effectively to forward 50.

CT has had an awesome year on the wing, but he gets through on smarts not speed/power. Having someone like Goats who could actually develop into an awesome wing is something North haven’t had since Sam Gibson, and he didn’t have any of the offensive weapons Goater possesses.

It’s tempting, but think of the whole unit. Simpkin will have a huge year with LDU, Cunnington, JHF, Powell, WillPhill and Jed.

We need more good players being developed on the wings. I would love it if we draft a Sheezel/Tatsas which will give us the following on the wings/defensive sweeper makeup:

Taylor, Goater, McDonald Sheeze/Tsats

His coolness under pressure was never more evident than when he was hemmed in close to the boundary in the second quarter. He just faked and turned back and popped the ball to a free player. No other player on our team managed anything close to that throughout the day.

Yeah definitely would hold a top 5 opinion on him from his draft. With more project types like him, I give them ~3 years before I get impatient with them and start to consider that I may have been wrong and they're probably not going to be as good as I thought.

For us, thankfully, he got better with every game at VFL level and had a very solid first game.

Both Leigh Montana and David King were very impressed with his first game on First Crack this evening, they showed and commented on his first kick in AFL saying it was very brave but well executed and set up an excellent goal. Kingy's finished the little 90 second segment with a nice tongue-in-cheek comment, "I'll be surprised if he is not a part of our 2023 premiership team." which i found amusing, and hope is comes true.:)

In fact Joey is quite positive about our under 24's saying that there are around 18 that will be good starting point for Clarkson as he rebuilds the list. Didn't name them but I'm guessing Larkey, Zurhaar, Curtis, Taylor, Scott, Bonar, Perez, Thomas, Coleman-Jones, Horne-Francis, Goater, Stephenson, Phillips, Powell, Dawson, Davies-Uniacke, Young and Ford.

If you specifically want 18, i would replace Bonar with Bergman
