I mean considering Houli signed on for another year hes probably up to another year

That was my thought too. Madtiger's comment seems a bit odd to me. We have one of the best backlines in the league, all relevant players have signed on again, and on exposed form he wants to throw a new player in that mix - not just as back up or aspiring, but as "in the team" and specifically at half back.
I really like Oleg as an aspiring player coming back from injury, but if we need him at half back as "in the team" at the expense of players with better exposed form - we could be going backwards to go forwards perhaps and I'm not sure we are at that stage just yet.

Tigers resigned Oleg as a Markov respect. :moustache:

Rather hoping nobody has used a similar pun on this thread before. :)

Even if they have, the pun is so good you should use it again:thumbsu:

Houli and Ellis are pretty replaceable. Markov will give us extra pace. Think he has plenty to offer

Good in theory but don't think Houli is replaceable just yet. Has had an interrupted year with injuries but still our best run and carry backman. Shorts last month has been good to average, receiving alot of ball backward of the play and using his long kicking to get out of trouble. Houli gets the ball running forward of the play and gets involved in chairs of play which is much more attacking. Looks far from done just because he is approaching 30y.

Houli is a deadset gun, but injuries are not going to get better. The reality is if he loses his spot to Markov we will be a better team cos Markov will have developed into a gun too.

Not convinced that happens tho.

Like I said, good in theory. Do like Markov however. Houli has been pretty resilient, so a groin injury may not mean the start of the end.

Well Houli won't be playing much longer if he does at all next year imo. Could play in Ellis spot. Even on wing.

Would’ve thought Grigg would be out before Houli.

Markov can probably play both spots, even if it’s just as placeholder until Naish is AFL ready.

He won't replace Bachar unless he gets injured, which is a possibility.
Good to have him in the wings next year and perhaps the year after he cements that spot.

Oleg is just starting to look physically more like an AFL player. All legs and arms for the first 3 years but just like a finely tuned Russian pole vaulter is maturing nicely
Definitely think he will be a late bloomer

I think you are spot on there Charles. Madtiger has a little premature speculation when he says he'll be "in the team" next year. In and out a bit more likely. Don't get me wrong, I think Oleg has many of the tools needed, but he is not there yet - late bloomer tag is a decent analogy Charles and a bit more insightful.

How's his disposal guys some say it's good some say it needs work ?.

From what I've seen of him, his hands are good, his long kick is a weapon, but is let down a bit with his 20-30m pass. It's why he needs an uninterrupted 2019 to improve imo.
